As planned, I visited the the above exhibition this morning, interesting but far above my abilities both in cost terms and engineering abilities. Those who model "0" Gauge and think that's expensive should visit a Gauge 1 exhibition as it puts the cost in perspective, some of the cheaper 'used' models were close to 4 figures in £££'s, new and more exotic stuff anything up to 5k for a loco, coaches £1000 for four, so not only do you probably need to be a skilled engineer to build one, but you need a sizeable bank balance to finance it too! S'pose you could always do an "Equity release" on your house to finance one, though I doubt 'other halves' would appreciate that! Anyway, the pics, firstly a 'live steam' Garrett.
And again, just pulling away, though unfortunately, as I'm only using my phone camera, you can't make out the loco blowing steam from the safety valves. Keith.
Thanks for the photos Keith. I had planned on going but we've got to sort out the caravan ready for next weekends steam rally. Pete.
Hearing the conversations, it seemed that half of Birmingham was in attendance judging by the "Brummie" accents, hardly surprising considering it's still an industrial engineering centre. There wasn't much in the way of layouts, more traders and other exhibitors really, but interesting all the same. Keith.
