Just got back from a rather damp day out at the Nene Valley Railway, Peterborough. I wasn't aware that they had one of my 2nd favourite loco's there, 'Battle of Britain' loco "92 Squadron" , and in fact the train we took was pulled by it.....result! Anyway, here's a few photo's as promised, some more interesting than others. Attached files
General public were not allowed into the shed ('Elf & safety I guess!). This is a weird one (to me, at least!), a Norwegian built loco from Swedish State Railways. Attached files
Cab is.....well....different, at least to me! It must cover nearly half the firebox. Must have been nice and warm in those freezing Swedish winters! Attached files
Anyone in the UK who happened to see the 'Bond' film "Octopussy" on TV last Sunday may recall this loco featuring in the film. It's explained in this notice nearby. Attached files
They also have some Continental rolling stock too, this being a Danish coach. There was also an Orange and Yellow (!) (German I think) railcar which I couldn't get into a position to photograph. Attached files
Finally, one from the other side. Despite the rain, it wasn't too bad a day, train ride is around 8 miles, fare (for old fogies like me!) is £13 which seems about the going rate these days.....worth a trip, I'd say, and despite the rain, SWMBO enjoyed it too! Keith. Attached files
