Hi Gary,

Thanks, I'm gagging to get the build moving a bit as I know what's still to come. Some very different builds and techniques from that used on railway modelling but 100% transferable. It also involves working with one of my favourite mediums ...... plaster. I also like getting plastered.

I'll need to put a false bottom on the board as well as I intend putting in some electrics for lighting and maybe one or two effects. Plenty to do.

Carried on tonight and first off I wanted to give a little support to the base board as i was not convinced that there was not any flex in it and I wanted a false floor for wiring.

so thats what i started with.

then it was on to cutting the chamber out for the manhole etc .....

and a shot with the yet unfinished sewer pipe where it will enter the chamber.

and the same exiting the other side although this is only the former. Sewer yet to be constructed for this side. ( more casting ).

Now is where the changes to design started to happen. For the sharp of mind and sight, you'll notice that the DAS clay floor to the sewer is gone. it had set rock hard but was not fixing to the base board and was lifting in places so I decided to take it out ........ and replace it with a couple of layers of 3mm foam board. that was glued down with PVA.

Then I started lining out the sewer / manhole chamber.

again foam board was used. Originally I was going to cast this entirely in plaster but given the DAS affair, I had a change of plan. I am thinking of giving the chamber an overall coat of finishing plaster to represent the concrete finish and I'll mix some PVA in it to try and give it a little elasticity.

another photo of the same and you'll notice a couple of cut outs at each side of the chamber. This if for wiring for the chamber lighting on each side of the chamber. the wiring will lead out through the floor to be powered up.

a shot of the sewer on the outside of the chamber ....

and exiting the rear just to give an appreciation of where its heading.

tomorrow night i will be looking at building up the sewer invert level either side of the chamber ready to accept the sewer structure. At least .... that the plan.

You'll need to get a picture or two of your boat build up. I have a Sherman awaiting glue as well.
