:hismiley:Great work Andy. I know the laminating and glueing is tedious but you are bring your boxfile to life now.

So last night I progressed B structure to completion. I’d been to my parents for tea and following a Christmas present (I’m digressing here) sat and put on some vinyl to pass the evening. 9F0079C7-95BC-4A9D-AF4E-4F11340DDE61.jpeg

I didn’t realise I had so much by the Pet Shop Boys, especially when we had moved well in to CD era.
    6DEC1C20-C0CC-4980-B2DD-B144CE81E852.jpeg

Didn’t have them all on, infact some are Singes (or probably LP’s) with only one album here..

    You see I digressed!!!

    Anyway, back to the modelling.
I’m still finding the instructions a little vauge. Glue x-to-y as shown, except the photo is rather small. Even reprinting the distructions in colour didn’t really help me much and some was guess work with some trimming as some parts simply didn’t fit. Thankfully oversize but that’s better than under size right? Although I found with one wrap I had to add a further 2mm laminate to pack it out, so either I’ve not got it right or the kits sadly got some issues. Nothing critical, it just made me think and scratch make.
    :scratchchin:

So, onwards, completed the roof and the hooded covers... now that had its own issues... could I find what I’ve done with the grills? It took me a good 20 mins hunting around my off cuts and even the waste bin to remember that they are glued to the thin cardboard and was sat at the sideboard in the living room.
So trimmed and stuck on, I’m quite chuffed with the result.

Still need to sort the windows - I can’t find my old OHP sheets to print the windows to.

Still need to sort around the track and traverser.

The model is coming along very nicely and that album is in really good nick, no signs of ware !

Must admit, I don't mind getting the vinyl out...

and this is only 1/5th of the collection....

    Cheers, Gary.

Cheers Ian. Unsure if there will be progress for the next 4-5 evenings as at work.

I'll just say that a large stack of vinyl helps with the gluing of cover sheets to card, the perfect size and weight for compression !

    Cheers, Gary.

So I’ve made a start on my track work. (I now realise I need to get some wire to make it “live” as I used the last bit on Oakamoor the other day to temp wire the point motors. )

So, I used some of that foam board with the paper cover. Gives a good top surface.
Marked out on the grid paper first where the rails ran, cut it out.
    59628D7E-EF07-426D-9086-5DFC926771DE.jpeg

I then cut a L in the ends to overlap the sleepers. Quite pleased with the first pass.
    6F558043-31F1-46D4-ADE8-0700F1D3F855.jpeg

I then moved to the next bit of between the points.
    9FD34D27-984C-4967-A9C9-26E4C1CC2FFD.jpeg

And complete apart from the middles of the next two lines (the glue didn’t stick the paper, so before I trim, I’ve re glued it to stop it tearing.) but these ones are slit in half so only half depth..

There is one issue I’ve already spotted!! Tension lock couplings now ride in this rather than between the rails.

I’m now :scratchchin: how I’m going to now transfer this to the top concrete paperwork? Non is stuck down yet, so I’ve some flexibility. Maybe too much flex and not enough ability... but :faint:
    Here goes nothing! :)

Oh and the observant will notice the spring clip still in situe. That’s still to remove but while it’s not in the way of the next structure (which I can’t do till this section is complete) it’s holding stuff in place :avatar:

Likewise the box lid clip WILL remain, making it more an enclosed scene.

I’m now at the point where I make a choice. Glue down to the main bits in situe... let dry, lift, trim and wrap...

Or are they’re any other suggestions?

I would flip the hardstanding printout upside down and glue each piece to it separately then trim each one to fit.

    Oh... a bit like this?
    89113C45-C7C1-4B93-A17D-3678171BE4F8.jpeg

I did actually glue this down to the card parts in the box, left it to dry then lifted out to trim.. so far... so good!

The fact your trimming 5mm out for rail head and flange gives a little lee-way to roll the paper overhang and wrap it around.

    3 panels done so far.
    9F871AB7-27B2-417D-A844-B7DF731D37DE.jpeg

I’m enjoying this. However, paper DID stop play as it blunted the knife blade. Quick trip to Wilco’s for some new ones (sods law its always the last side your using!!:faint:) so now trimming the rest up.

    Still to do:
    1) wiring.
    2) cut remains of track to fit (and add this missing section in the yard)
    3) paint track.
    4) fit part x’s when they arrive.
    5) glue it all down!
    6) ballast the point (didn’t want to do this but needs must.)
    7) sort out some glazing for the windows as my ink jet doesn’t like the transparency stuff I’ve sourced!
    8) build the rest of the kit

    Laters Gents!

You know what Paul, this kit would be great scaled up to O - you would need to have detailed corrugated sheets, bricks etc rather than paper, but the actual design would lend its self brilliantly to a small space layout with a Jinty or 08 shunting. The two sidings also lead to doors so scaled up with out the “box file” constraints, this would give you another two exit points to do some real shunting in a small space.

Now if we could fit a crossing and a signal box in..... you would only need a model of Pegleg Johnson :scratchchin:

Nice idea Andy ... sounds more like a suitcase file than a box file. :avatar: I've often though these print kits would look quite nice in O Gauge... they would make a very quick solution if you passed up on surface texturing.

The next big step and tick off the list.

Track wired and now stuck down.

    1098C268-0D5E-4C79-9D03-4D3737032A5A.jpeg

That’s all for tonight. Let the glue dry. I’ve finally removed the spring clip off the end, ready for the next wall to go in. The wiring has been tested with the volt meter continuety test.

Maybe tomorrow we will run a loco for the first time. :tophat:

I have noticed that a small point has been used. Is this a small set track point or a small Peco Streamlined ??

    Cheers, Gary.
