I think we all get to the stage where there are too many compromises and it just does not work to provide the enjoyment we hope to get out of our layouts. My Dargan layout is the fifth journey down this path of creating new or expanded layouts but made easier by a couple of interstate moves. Even with Dargan there were a few issues but the unexpected storm damage has provided the opportunity to rectify them all (ie those that are evident) and all centred around the turntable and its access/egress locations. Now nearing completion.

I beginning to think you just love building kits...lol...no need to find excuses...its a perfectly acceptable hobby...looking forward to your next throw on this idea.
