As both Jeff (SRman) and I had discussed in a previous topic (Liveries of CCT and Parcel Vans http://www.platform1mrc.com/view_topic.php?id=877&forum_id=31), it is hard to obtain 'railway colours' paint from the UK due to postal infringements. As anywhere in the world now, posting paints is classified as 'dangerous'. An 18ml pot of paint can't be as dangerous as a smart phone causing a fire on a flight recently ! :whatever:

I had to obtain some paint here in Australia to be as 'çlose as possible' to the real colour (livery). Taking an old Mk1 coach (maroon) with me to an auto store (Auto One), I purchased the paint that was as close as what I could get. I was assured by the salesman that it would dry in a satin finish, rather than gloss or matt. The large 350 gram aerosol can cost $23.00 and should be enough to paint quite a few models.

The paint I chose was this :

I have used this on my old Lima CCT van and I'd say it is a fine match with the other factory finished coaches/vans I have.

The CCT still requires lining and wagon identification and some weathering to tone it down, but overall, a good match I'll say.

    Cheers, Gary.

That really does look closely matched, Gary.

I'll have to file that colour match away for future use.
