Fantastic video Steve. I particularly like the work you have done in the gardens. Such thought and great detail has went into it all. The grass verge has worked very well blending the hedges with the road side. All great and transferable exercises.

    thanks for posting them up.

Thanks very much Toto. I appear to have a knack with gardens! I was particularly pleased with the verge especially as it was helped by the disturbance caused by putting on glue for the scenic grass. It does give a realistic edge to the road along the hedge now. Steve

absolutely, it shouldn't be to uniform or regimented otherwise you loose the realism.

great results. I still have a couple of the earlier videos to watch. I'll be back. :avatar:

    cheers

Time of the June update showing the things I have been doing other than gardening. It includes a section I finally managed to film about a gimbal I use to record video with my iPhone. As the outtakes will show you I had several goes to get it right.

I have finally completed my first bit of ballasting, a task that I don't think I am ever going to warm to doing, using Deluxe Ballast Magic. I take a look at other scenic work and show the joy of DCC is being able to send by S&DJR 3F Jinty to the aid of a S&DJR Fowler 4F that had slipped to a stand, before double heading the train off the main line. I also take a look at the Revolution Trains crowdfunded Class B tankers, three of which now reside at Elvenhome.

Completed some scenic work and ballasting up the incline. In the process of making this video I realised that i needed to stop talking about planning layout for the goods yard and station at the high level station at High Elven, and actually get on with it. Much to my surprise I produced a plan that I think might work and I will be interested in any comments you may have on the plan.

    Hi Steve

I’ve managed to find some bushes on EBay but having trouble finding any one selling a spot of inspiration do you have a link.

A stunning layout I have been following all your videos, keep up the good work.

    Just a thought Steve,
Can your B-set fit in the run around loop at High Elven Station without fouling either of the points?

Hi Jim and thanks for your comment. As ever I had been very literal. The B set fits exactly the piece of track between the points giving no room for an engine to pass over. Plan has been adapted to give the extra room, but I've been get lots of ideas so I am now on version three of the replan!

Edinburgh in August is a fun place with much to distract the modeller. But with the Festivals over it is time to return to building the layout, and in particular a station for Sharky's End.

I'll get at look at this tomorrow morning. I'm just in my kip and I don't think SWIMBO would appreciate it. :avatar: it's Bern a while since I've had my last fix Steve. Looking forward to it.

Hope you enjoyed the festival.

Hi Toto and thanks. Been busy this week and only just catching up with things on the layout so sorry to be slow in replying. I'm pleased with the station. Noting too complex but it seems to be working. Spent today fixing it in place and adding some scenery. We had a great time as always at the Festivals, particularly the Fringe - Edinburgh is a great place to live

    Hi Scott

Thanks very much. It is coming together nicely and I am finding that I am getting better at being able to visualise what I want to do and then actually doing it!

    Regards

    Steve

In this the September update I complete the work to get Sharky's End on the layout. I also begin the task of building a War Memorial for Elvenhome in honour of the centenary of the end of fighting in the Great War in 1918. Finally, in the light of all the helpful comments on my first track plan for the High elven, and with aid of a number of wet towels around my head, I show the revised track plan. Enjoy

Time to let you see the next section in the build of the War Memorial and the final plans for the station on a new raised sections called High Elven. I also talk about the next stage in the scenic work around the main station Weathertop.
