    OK,

We left of here with the coach end awaiting emergency brake rodding etc .....

and added the main horizontal rodding along the top ....

Then the brake valve box and the brake pipe ....

Then the vertical brake pipe between the two .....

    to get this ....

    and a couple more ....

and the last one for now ....

The brake valve box and brake pipe with their interconnecting pipes etc was soldered up in 100 degree low melt solder. The main body was first tinned with a bit 60 / 40 then the low melt used for the final connection.

Now ..... Another brake pipe at the other end and then we are on to the buffers ..... more as it happens

    cheers

Forgot to add ... I have ordered up turned brass " Tee " door handles as the door handles included in the kit are a little to fragile for my liking . These were ordered from Roxey Mouldings and are Markits versions. Much more sturdy for any future handling.

    cheers

T' other end .... not as busy at this end ...

and with the brake pipe / ose / thingy

Now .... buffers to go yet.

I might get these up tonight. I have to drill them out first. They are white metal and the casts are fine. I would have liked brass but I think I'll make do with what has been supplied for this build. I can always replace them later if I want to.

    cheers

Yes that's true Toto, the buffer casts are good quality but I think we have all been drawn into the idea of sprung buffers which do have the edge, but as you say these solid ones supplied in the kit can always be changed at a later day if required.

Looking at tonight's game plan. I have a load of little riveted panels to be fixed to the sole bar on each side. In line with the foot board hangers. I will be fixing these with my two part epoxy resin as they are so awkward and also risk making one almighty mess if done in solder.

Probably only one side getting done as I will have the coach on its side whilst applying them and dont want to move it until the epoxy has had enough time to go off. So ..... limited progress but I think as each build comes to an end, you have to accept that undertaking these little tasks involves inefficient use of time.

One step closer though. Tomorrow night will see the same and then its buffers and door handles last.

Had an email confirming the despatch of my order from Roxey mouldings for my handles so they should be here for the weekend.

I am now thinking about ordering up spring brass buffers rather than using the white metal versions as supplied from Jim. Nothing wrong with them just personal preference. I need to be able to source the brass versions though, so ...... I'm off for a surf

    Ok .....

and tonights workload ..... hardly worth coming out for really but .......

these little swines need to go in ......

and here is where they are going ..... the sole bar .....

and one side done. two part epoxy resin was used so ..... I'll need to leave it curing for a while before I can turn it over and do the other side.

    cheers

    Well,

Last day of furlough fir me. Back to work ( from home ) on Monday. I will try to get into the shed earlier today and get the other side of the coach fitted with these little riveted plates. Hopefully they will dry out by tomorrow sufficiently enough to let me do another clean up and ....... fit the carriage door T handles provided that they arrive from roxey mouldings either today or tomorrow. Fingers crossed. That will leave the buffers which are also on order and the coupling hooks.

It's a waiting game for now really.

My intention is to build another 3 five compartment thirds and a 2 compartment brake third for use as a preformed rake to go behind the 4F. That build will be commencing next weekend.

It'll be all go once again.:whatever:

    OK,

The second side solebars have been fitted with these little rivet brackets .....

I hope the two part epoxy cleans off the brass ok as its nigh on impossible to get these on without smearing bthe epoxy when you wiggle them into position.

    fingers crossed

So .... I had a delivery today which had a few items I had ordered to get this kit over the line .....

here we are .... to start with ...... buffers ......

now fitted as of tonight .......

Then we had some of these ..... couplings ......

and they are now built ready to go on ......

But ..... there is always a but ..... I need to enlarge the slots on the buffer beam to get them to fit as the preformed hole is too neat ..... by far ..... that is for later.

Now ..... I also received my " T " turned brass door handles " But " again another but ......

being a silly twat as is fast becoming the norm for me ..... I ordered them in 4mm by mistake .

Its too much hassle to send them back so here is what the score is ...... If we have any 4mm modellers out there that could use them ....... yell out and they are going FOC to a good home. I'll even pay the postage ....... yes ... I know ...... I'm all heart .....

It does pay to read 7mm threads even if its not your chosen medium ....... you just never know what you are going to get. :avatar:

I'll need to order some more now. I wouldn't mind but the delivery took ages on these. I'm gutted ..... The never ending build.

    cheers
