    Hi Jim,
I have probably got the spelling wrong, but "greebelling" i refer to as adding extra tiny details, sometimes things of larger significance, such as downpipes, fuse boxes, or it can be other non-descript pieces to add interest and break up any solid shape that seems a bit too plain.

    Cheers

    Tony

Some time was spent today setting up the layout again along with the fiddle yard. The purpose of this was to check levels for the run around boards. Once they have legs permanently made then track and power attachments can be made.
    .
That task will have to wait until I have a full day to work on it. I'm glad it all fits in one car space and I can still walk around it. I think i have certainly reached the limit of size for an exhibition layout.
    Cheers

Away for the weekend in Cowra, country NSW, in between times helping at a Lego exhibition I am designing the next scratchbuilt house for the layout. I only need two houses and the one I made for this really doesn't go with ones I had already either made is bought. So it's time to design another. Very simple 2 bedroom house with gabled roof. Would like to tile the roof, but it might take too long tiling it my method, will have to check the Wills sheets for size.
I have some rough measurements, real estate floor plans can be helpful here, the windows and doors I intend to use, ruler, pencil and protractor.
From the other thread, here is the first house, now complete.
    Cheers
    Tony

Check out Slaters for roofing tiles. They do have a good selection of roofing material.

    Cheers, Gary.

Well, I enjoyed scratch building the last building so much i decided to do another. Wasn't real happy with the buildings I had with how they sat in the scene, wasn't a very hard decision to make.
I wanted another simple building more reflective of the 1980s, my suburb has lots of inspiration for this sort of house, so I have gone for something simple with a gable roof, not quite ready for a hip roof yet. This will be weatherboard, with brown aluminium windows and brown tiled roof, the sort of house you would never notice really.
I have used the interior plans of similar houses on the real estate pages to get the basic dimensions, then made another cardboard mock-up.
This has allowed me to rough in the road, footpath, nature strip and property boundaries. An extra job has been created in making the platform a little larger around the closest siding. I will be making this more of a dock platform and integrating the back door of the platform building to it.
Cars are there for a bit of scale too.
    Cheers
