On it's way from Ellis Clark's. Kimbo had directed Keith to the site to look at an ACE kit merchant Navy ( which I note has gone ........ keeeeeeeeiiiiiith ) and I spotted the 7F ...... I did not hang around as complete in mint condition and at reasonable price ..... had to have it. I had been considering one earlier, cant remember where from. Gladiator I think. Pictures when it arrives. Cheers Toto
No, not me 'Guv! Nice as it was and cheaper than buying direct from Ace, if I buy any more "0" gauge stuff, it'll be an unrebuilt "Merchant Navy". Presently, funds are needed for Jim's "02" Keith.
Looks as if you are going Somerset and Dorset what with a 7F, 4F Q1,9F's and Jinties Toto... all you need is a couple of unrebuilt West Countries and some GWR and Southern coaches
Supports my ethos in " anything goes " it's all about if you like the look of it then time and place shouldn't stop you. Life is too short to be restricted by convention. At least for me it is. Toto
I’ll start PM members with any items I find that might be interest to THEM in an effort to slow Toto down and give others a chance
That was a good link Kimbo. I'm delighted to get the 7F. I'm due you a beer for catching that one. Toto
And some dodgy photos just as a guide. If anyone wants a specific set, just ask and I'll re-do them. the box ..... There are two sets of instructions ...... a couple of examples of the exploded diagrams that come with it ..... and ..... some bags of white metal and lost wax brass stuff ..... and a preformed boiler sectgion. Nickle silver loco chassis and rods etc ..... and brass etches for the tender ..... and more for the loco ..... The kit is in first class condition. Had not been opened prior to me taking delivery of it so it obviously been in the darkest depths of someones cupboard. very pleased with it. cheers toto
That is a lovely looking kit and is a natural to go with the 4F ... I shall enjoy following this build when the time comes, as you say Toto and I so agree its about having kits you like and can enjoy in your collection. No point having stuff which doesn't appeal, which is why I am very tempted to buying a rebuilt Merchant Navy kit, it would have to be Ellerman Lines which as a kid I once saw fleetingly on the blocks at Waterloo .
Looks a nice kit, also has the half etched lines for hornblocks if you wish to compensate the chassis - now your an experienced builder, your readers (me) will be expecting this sort of embellishment to start appearing Paul
You just never know ..... wont be the next build thats for sure ...... have you seen the rodding arrangement ...... not good ..... or easy.
I'd like to do one of the very early versions which had the tender back cab. Apparently there were six of them. However, they never kept the back cab for long. I'll decide nearer the time though. Toto
