Enjoy this video I put together from a day out with my boys riding behind 4206 (Grandma) and 42103 (Chumster) on the Richmond-Mulgrave-Richmond Shuttle yesterday. 4206 (42 Class : 4201 - 4206) were built in 1955/56 and 42103 (421 Class : 42101 - 42110) were built in 1965/66. Both locomotives use the EMD 16-567C power unit and sound great ! Cheers, Gary.
Somehow that post reminded me of a trip we made on the Richmond line in 1985. We had taken our daughter (just the one then - her sister arrived three years later) on a number of trips on suburban electrics, to Moss vale with 3801, and from Wentworthville to Penrith and back with 5461 on the occasion of the centenary of Wentworthville station. We were talking about various types of trains one day, and she said "I want to go on a diesel train". Cue for a trip on the Richmond line. The next weekend we caught a train to Riverstone and did the trip from there to Richmond and back on the diesel railmotor - that section of the line was not electrified until 1991.
Brilliant! good to see Jack and Jody getting some quality time with their dad! Thanks Gary. Cheer's, Pete.
