Possibly the simplest type of conversion.

    Fitting a RoS-6D Decoder

The Wrenn N2 differs significantly to the Dublo N2 because it utilises the R1 chassis with an additional platform attached to the rear of the chassis to support and hook the rear of the body. This plate is shown shortened prior to fitting a Dublo body, described later.

Suppression components removed and both arms of the brush spring are insulated with sleeves, decoder wires are soldered to the brushes and white unshrunk heat shrink sleeving used as strain relief.

The images show the position of the RoS-6D fixed in place with a double sided sticky pad.

For details of connecting to this decoder please refer to Solution 1 of article 26, Ref 31.1.

    Fitting a Dubo Body

Not really part of a DCC conversion but may be of interest, the original choice of running numbers is very limited but I had a reliveried and renumbered Dublo body available.

As both body mountings differ between the Dublo and Wrenn versions the bodies are not directly interchangeable, however a Dublo body and Wrenn R1 chassis can be made to fit with small modifications to both.

The chimney lines up with a tapped hole in the chassis used to retain an R1 body so modifying the chimney top of the Dublo N2 body to accept a long countersink head screw sorts out the front. The screw did need to be longer than that used in the R1, luckily I had one in my "useful one day" tub of BA screws.

The extension plate at the rear of the Wrenn R1 chassis needs shortening, a little bending and pads to suit the style of Dublo body you are to fit, there seems to be at least two types. The images above show the plate shortened but prior to bending to get the body ride height correct at the back.

    Summary

A straightforward DCC conversion and the chassis not too difficult to adapt for fitting a Dublo body shell.
