The electric motor coach and 3300HP electric loco have the same top housing and uninsulated brush holder. The processes of extraction, reaming and tube replacement is performed in the same way as for the open frame motor steam loco chassis. Standard length tube of 21 mm. The processes for open frame motor steam loco chassis including source of tools was covered in :- https://platform1mrc.com/p1mrc/inde...rsions-22-dublo-brush-holder-extraction.6017/ https://platform1mrc.com/p1mrc/inde...sions-23-dublo-brush-holder-replacement.6025/ Caution. Ensure that the end of the screw that retains the mounting plate (or joining bar) to the motor bogie does not foul the replacement brush tube. On this motor bogie the threaded hole was open to the brush tube, its depth to the tube was measured at 3.8mm and the screw thread length 3mm so okay. Check yours before assembly, if the screw penetrates the tube insulation track voltage will meet decoder output and fry the decoder. Summary Overall a very straightforward conversion, easier than a steam loco chassis, however due to the value, or rather cost of an electric motor coach, or worse the 3300HP loco, I would not make either of these your first conversion, there are many other much cheaper Dublo models you can practice on first. Completing a DCC conversion of an electric motor coach which this bogie belongs to will follow but not for a 3300HP locomotive, the latter is far too expensive. Also I can pretend there are 3rd and 4th power rails but not overhead catenary! Discussion always Jim Return to Index
