East Lancashire Railway: Flying Scotsman Returns (15/10/2016)

    Making a welcome return to the East Lancashire Railway since her overhaul was completed earlier in the year, the National Railway Museum owned LNER A3 'Pacific' 60103 (4472) Flying Scotsman was in action between Thursday 13th and Sunday 16th October on specially timetabled non-stop Bury to Rawtenstall services laid on for pre-booked passengers. 60103 made a fine sight running along the 12.5 mile line through the Irwell Valley. I went along on the Saturday (15th October) to observe and record the icon in action at various places along the line. Also in action that day were Lancashire & Yorkshire 0-6-0 1300 (in LMS condition as 12322), BR Standard 4 tank 80080, ex-BR 121 DMU W55001 and ex-BR 117 Unit cars W51339 and W51382.

    Below are some snaps I took, with the locations being Ramsbottom, Irwell Vale and Heywood.
