    G`day Folks,
Welcome to another Gormo`s Shed, wherein all sorts of weird and wonderful, whacky ideas may surface and be passed on to the model railway community.

So if you`re still here and the above sentence hasn`t scared you off, and also if you`re not at all squeamish, keep reading as we enter into the dark art of modifying people.
Model figures of people that is…….plastic figures….therefore Plastic Surgery.
Tools required…….whatever is your favourite scalpel…..be careful and don`t cut yourself…….and possibly a heat source…..and anything else that you can think of that may assist with modifications and amputations.
The heat source needs to be controllable ,like a saucepan of boiling water or some other means, because excessive heat will deform the figures very quickly.

I over did it with a model figure yesterday and deformed his leg. The only option then was amputation, which in turn led one`s mind to making a model crutch for this guy.
You see folks, mistakes can quite often take you off in another direction and when you think about it…...when is the last time you saw a model figure with crutches.????
Now is this a million dollar idea or what ???…...OK ..probably not...but it will introduce some variety to your figures and in some cases, as with the bloke with the crutches, mirror real life.
So you must be saying “ OK Gormo, how do you make crutches…????” …...well I don`t know, I haven`t worked that out yet !!!!!……..but the idea is there so that`s a start....:scratchchin:
Anyway check out the examples in the video and you will see the potential.

    Well Toto,
I don`t think you`ll learn much from it, but you may get a laugh out of it.

No actually, I hit him with too much heat from the heat gun and his leg deformed and seem to almost double in thickness.
I had no choice but to amputate.
If I manage to destroy any more model people, I might just use one of their legs to fix him up. Trouble is, he might have two odd legs, especially if I use two left handers.???
Probably best to just make him some crutches or cut the other leg off and put him in a passenger coach......:scratchchin:

I do like the peg leg idea, as you say, not seen, how about some tissue wrapped around an arm as a broken arm?
For inspiration, there is a chap "Jaz" (on another forum:D) who does wonders with figures, I wont link to the other forum where there are some cracking pictures, but here is his Youtube channel, just look at the "Arboretum Valley Model Railway" video's, does not do his work justice but gives a brief overview.

Not nice Toto......poor fellow is becoming the BUTT of all of our jokes.
Ray Wilson contacted me to let me know that Preiser do model wheelchairs, that`s handy to know and may get this poor sod up off the ground....although he`s only one leg down at the moment......says Gormo with a knife in his hand and a gleam in his eye.!!!
