    G`day Folks,

    Number 19 has just hit the news stands for your entertainment.

    We`re rockin` through the year .......before you know it Christmas will be upon us.

    So as the heading states, we are looking at umbrella struts as a useful modelling resource. I have been using them as guttering on a Metcalfe kit I`ve just bashed for Great Chesterford Junction ( http://www.platform1mrc.com/view_post.php?post_id=9508 ) and the results have been quite good. Good enough in fact to do a video and encourage others to have a go.

    The video also covers the use of bicycle spokes used as posts on the station platform.
    So check it out and see what you think????.....I`m sure others have done this before me and probably better, but this is my way of doing it........enjoy!!!

    The Oz tourist board may have words tho, we have been pushing the site at the show, and everyone see an ozzie with an umbrella indoors in the middle of a heat wave, and we thought us brits were a bit puddled :avatar:

    Excellant video mate - as usual.

    Hi a Gormo,

    Just watched your tutorial yet again. It's truly amazing how these little changes can improve a kit. Even help bring them more to life. The signal box is really quite transformed from its previous state.

    :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

    The other good thing is these are little improvements that most could manage without having to have any great skill level. The guttering end caps are a stroke of genius.

    I think it's a thread that people will refer to again and again. The archive will help this enormously for referencing back to.

    :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

    Thanks again for sharing.

    Cheers

    Toto

    Thanks Toto,

    I don`t think the end caps are genius.....it`s just necessity and thinking outside the box.

    As you know I am a great fan of the Rev. Peter Denny, now sadly deceased, and his Buckingham layout. The Rev. didn`t have the luxury of off the shelf items like we have today, so he made just about everything for his railway.........just amazing for the time!!!!

    So I like to make what ever I can, and consequently, everyday items that pass by me are scrutinized to see if they would be of any use in our 1/76th scale railway world.

    I am taking a leaf out of the good reverend`s book and if I can make anything as half as good as he has made.....well I`ll be a happy chappy.
