G`day Folks, Well the title goes a long way to explaining what this weeks video is all about. I found this method when looking through the internet to try and find a way of making my own corrugated roofing. The method as shown in the video is cheap and easy and yields good results albeit in my case, not strictly to scale. That aside, the look of it pleasing to my eye and in my humble opinion is a vast improvement on the printed tile version in the original kit. It gives the model considerable relief for a start. Yes we are kit bashing again!!! Here is a result.....just finished this afternoon, ready now for the spray booth. More pics and detail will be in my Great Chesterford Junction topic later on today. http://www.platform1mrc.com/view_topic.php?id=7&forum_id=5&page=26 In the meantime enjoy the video and possibly have a go at some roofing yourself.!!!! Very inventive Gormo. You kept us guessing. I know you mentioned that it is a little over sized/over scale for OO guage, (I personally think it looks great) so I'm sure you can use the excuse that it is corrugated asbestos ! Cheers, Gary.
Thanks Chris & Gary, Yeah, yeah Gary.....that`s right .....it`s corrugated asbestos.....I was just waiting for somebody to spot that.....well done mate. http://www.clickGormo
Gormo that's a great way to make corrugated iron at a fraction of the price of the plastic sheet versions that we would normally need to buy. Especially if the project is a large shed a warehouse roof. Fantastic idea, thanks for sharing it. Cheers Steve
Thanks Guys, I have finished with the roofing for the moment and I still haven`t used the flat base of the baking tray I bought, specifically for that purpose. The roof has all come out of the sides of the tray. I mean there are certain sections of the tray that are not worth the trouble of trying to flatten them out, but I would estimate that 80%, at least, is usable. I was trawling through some of my older train mags last night and found an article about making a Nissen hut. The method in the article uses a commercial model, however it made me realise that it could be done using the baking tray method. I was thinking of using a piece of 50mm plastic pipe cut to length and then split down it`s length to form two half sections......or at least one good one to use for the Nissen hut. Cut outs would have to be done for the side windows, however the pipe could be overlayed with the baking tray corrugated roofing and voila.......one has a Nissen hut.......and a bespoke model at that!!!. The ends could be done quite easily with card.? So come on lads......I`m busy at the moment with more important issues....so it`s up to you guys......start carving up those baking trays!!!!!! http://www.click Gormo PS.....should have put a picture in.???
