G`day Folks, This week we have a short tutorial on PosterRazor which is a free software package designed to allow you to print posters on your home computer. The software re-arranges the image into parts that will fit onto A4 pages. The program settings can be changed enough to allow quite big images to be printed out. I have used this program myself to print the backgrounds you may have seen on Great Chesterford Junction. It`s very basic and very easy to use and the main thing is the price is right!!!..... Enjoy the video Link to " Print Your Own Backgrounds " on YouTube http://www.clickGormo
Thank you! I have been wondering how best to printout the backscene for the HO layout and this is just right. Great Video! Ian
I have been looking to print my own backscene for a while now, I reckon I will give this whirl, thanks Gormo . Pete.
Very clear and well presented Gormo. Looks like a relatively easy bit of software to use. Cheers Toto
I've downloaded the Mac software version, but because it's not via the itunes store, it won't let me open it.......any ideas anyone??? Keith.
Paul may be able to help there. I didn't realise you had to go via the I store to get it to work. Sounds strange. Lets wait for the messiah he knows everything.
That seems a bit odd Keith??, I just checked the download section on the site again and it gives the impression that you should be able to download, double click and you`re away. Then again, we are dealing with computers and software, so nothing should surprise me.?? I hope you can get it sorted. Maybe Paul may have a solution.? Thanks to all the other replies for your positive comments. http://www.clickGormo
Thanks Gary old mate!!... And Happy Fathers Day for tomorrow to all the Dads out there in forum land.http://www.clickhttp://www.click http://www.clickGormo
Fathers Day Had me going there. We do Father's Day in June. My heart can stop racing now ......... Thought I'd forgotten.
Settle down Toto old son, It`s alright!!!.....In Oz it`s the first Sunday in September, so my post should have read " Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads in Australia in forum land ". Just sit down for a moment, have another swig of brandy, a puff on your ciggy......don`t try to paint any detail on any wagons until your hands stop shaking and just remember what Corporal Jones used to say in Dads Army......" Don`t Panic......Don`t Panic.!!!!" http://www.clickGormo
Another great video, and in quick time as well . Is'nt a Mac something you use to stop getting wet. I don't much about apples apart from they're great when made into a pie or a pint of cider. According to the instructions "After downloading the OSX disk image, double click to mount it if it doesn't mount automatically. You can start the contained PosteRazor application directly by double clicking it or drag it into a location of Your choice." Try copying it from your download location to your desktop or any other easily accessable location then follow the above instructions. Paul
Just what I was looking for. Great video and great piece of software. I used the Microsoft ICE programme to produce the panoramic image, it was easy to use and lined everything up for me, but maybe there is a better one out there? regards
Thanks Anthony, I had to look up Microsoft Ice........it looks good for stitching pics together. I have some Canon software that will give similar results. The tricky part is stitching together pics that are different sizes and from different locations. That`s where you need photo editing software that will allow you to resize and blend them together. To blend I use a clone tool which in effect copies parts of the image and allows you to paste them into other parts of the overall image. There are a number of programs available that will have good features. I use a free, fairly basic one called PhotoFiltre.7 http://www.photofiltre-studio.com/pf7-en.htm http://www.clickGormo
I have been having a play with the postrazor and it is fairly simple, but I would like to try and tack images together to make longer backscenes, I have just downloaded the photofiltre program, is it self explanatory and user friendly? Cheers, Pete.
Good question Pete.??? On reflection I would have to say that it`s much easier than GIMP and Inkscape and Paint.Net. These programs are also free and GIMP in particular is very well endowed with features and a steep learning curve as well. There will be a learning curve as with anything, but it`s certainly far more intuitive than it`s more powerful cousins. I have used PhotoFiltre a lot and am quite used to it so you could probably answer the question better than me now as you will be seeing it with fresh eyes. I guess the best comparison would be Windows Paint. A good program but lacking the features of PhotoFiltre.....so it`s like the next step up from Windows Paint.......a bit more complicated but relatively easy to get to grips with. I used to practice with it using an image of no importance to me. Try using all the tools and you`ll quickly work out what they can do. When you`ve finished just don`t save the changes and the original image will be retained or save the changes as a new / different file name which will also retain the original. Here`s a link to some tutorials I did on that other forum http://yourmodelrailway.net/view_topic.php?id=12705&forum_id=58&page=5#p224217 http://yourmodelrailway.net/view_topic.php?id=12705&forum_id=58&page=6#p224272 They are not comprehensive tutorials, but may allow you to get you feet wet in PhotoFiltre and inspire you to stay with it and explore it`s potential. Please bear in mind the tutorials were done on version 6 which is ever so slightly different. If you need any help.....just give me a yell.!! http://www.clickGormo
Thanks Gormo, I have had a little play with it, but nothing seems to work, must be doing something wrong, I will try again. Pete.
Thanks Gormo, looks like a useful program, had a little play with the clone stamp. I have tried GIMP but I need to invest more time in learning to use it than I want to, it is a really powerful tool but usually I only want to do some basic changes, this looks like the answer.
