    G`day Folks,

I visited the railway exhibition the other day basically to see how Gary was going with the Platform 1 display and to say g`day and generally to check out the competition.

The exhibition was very good and the Platform 1 display looked quite professional. Over the years Australian exhibitions seem to have generally moved away from British style layouts and now the focus seems to be entirely on Australian railways........no big deal but I personally miss the British layouts.

Gary was in full flight explaining different facets of his railway and the benefits of membership on Platform 1 whilst Jack was operating Industry Lane.

Anyway folks it was a good exhibition and the following video shows just a small sample of it.

    Another great video Gormo.

The Coffs Harbour layout is an impressive beast. Should have seen the truck out the back when it was pack-up time..! I find the layout unique as it has different scenes from different parts of the world. One corner has the idyllic American dock scene, whereas another corner has an English feel with a cricket match being played on the green, besides the typical English pub. Then there is the heavier industrial scene and on the opposite side, the mainline railway flowing through the countryside and over two very nicely crafted bridges. What was impressive on this layout were the two central fiddle yards, each sporting 20 x road sidings, one being for the up and the other for the down line.

Overall, Broxburn Sidings was my favourite layout, a great shunting layout ! Funnily enough, I was pointing the public towards Ron's layout (Broxburn Sidings), whereas he was pointing the public back to Industry Lane !

    Cheers, Gary.

    Well Gary,
You and Ron form what is known as a mutual admiration society.....and rightly so I would say...:thumbup:
Realistically two of the more interesting layouts at the exhibition were yours and Ron`s. Ron`s Alex Jackson coupling system performs perfectly. I have read up on the system and it seems it has to be handled very carefully in transit otherwise problems can be created, however that said, it performs superbly.
The roundy, roundys are impressive in size and attention to scenery, but just about 100% of the time all we see with them is trains going roundy, roundy. Rarely do they stop at a station or pull into a siding and do some shunting, so they hold my attention for a short while. On the other hand any layout where some attention is given to operation, such as Industry Lane and Broxburn Sidings, makes for much more interesting viewing.
The Coffs Harbour boys deserve a medal for just turning up and setting up. I assume they`ve travelled roughly 500klms from Coffs just to make it to Liverpool.???......boy oh boy what an effort.??
Say g`day to Jack for me......see ya mate.!!

Terrific layouts. I'm with you guts, Broxburn sidings and industry lane do if for me. My granny came from Broxburn in west Lothian which was a mining village ( shale mines )

The large layout is impressive. Must take a lot of commitment to shift that around.

Top marks for the layouts and more fantastic promotion of platform 1. Some very enthusiastic members to the forum as well.

    Great result all round.

Cheers and thanks for piecing up another great video Gormo.

    Great video Gormo

I was going to say you'd caught YENDYS with their pants down, but looking around at other videos on the web, it looks like they always have their pants down.

That could well be the case Ed.???

Anyway it`s a nice layout. I particularly like the short station that appears to continue through the back scene. I almost went that way myself with GCJ because it`s a great way to save some space on your railway.......changed my mind though.??:scratchchin:

    Just seems a shame Gormo.

After building all that lovely Catenary and not to have the pantographs raised, even if like mine they don't touch the wires, but are fixed just below.

Otherwise absolutely brilliant layout, although they all looked very good.

Of course, Industry Lane was the best one :)

Thanks for flying the flag at liverpool Jack and for the guest appearance in the competition photo. A much better prospect than looking at your old dad again.
