    G`day Folks,

I thought it was worth going through these processes for the influx of new members we`ve had this year.

There are also written help topics within the forum covering the same material which may be of assistance

    http://www.platform1mrc.com/view_topic.php?id=192&forum_id=42

    http://www.platform1mrc.com/view_topic.php?id=188&forum_id=42

I feel the long term members are so used to these processes now that it has become second nature and as a result we may be leaving some of our new friends behind and struggling in the technology wilderness.

This was never our intention, and as such, if you find that the video and or the written information still leaves you not completely confident with the process, then all you have to do is contact me or one of the other moderators and we will be quite happy to help you through to a successful result.

    Enjoy the video

Thanks for putting up your video Gormo, thankfully I don't have a problem with photos, so I was pleased when you said you would do a tutorial on video uploading, I guess I must just be a technophobe because I didn't understand any of it, sorry, I can put them on our Facebook page easily so I will just do that.

    Cheers, Pete.

    Thanks Ian, Toto and Pete,

Pete I can work through it with you if you want via PM`s.....just give me a buzz.

Really the must have is a YouTube channel.........if you have that, the process can come down to four simple steps.

1 Upload your video to YouTube.

2 Copy the video address from the YouTube address bar.

    3 Create a reply / post on P1MRC

4 From within the reply / post, click on the YouTube icon in the tool bar and paste your YouTube link in the box that opens.

When you use an iMac as I do, it doesn't seem possible to post multiple photo's into a single post (or at least, I haven't been able to do, but then, I'm "Computer Thick!"). I don't have a U-tube account and don't do video's so not sure how any other members using a Mac would proceed, but most folks know what they're doing on a computer much more than I do.:avatar:

Another easy way of resizing your photos is to use 'Paint' if you have/use Windows.

    1. Click on Paint icon. I have it located on the bottom of my screen, but you can find it within the Windows library of features by clicking on the Windows icon, located bottom left hand corner of the screen.

    2. Click on 'Files' in the top left hand corner, then click on 'Open'. You can select from any of the files on the side panel, ie Documents, Downloads, Pictures etc.. Once you select your preferred file, this type of image will appear.

    3. Select photo from file by clicking on selected image, then click on 'Open'. You can see the highlighted photo I have chosen.

The image will now appear on your screen quite large.

    4. Click on 'Resize' from the selection of tools at the top of the page.

    5. This page will appear and you can highlight and change the vertical and horizontal size.

    6. I have entered 75 in these boxes for this purpose. Generally the Vertical size will automatically change with the Horizontal size. Once you have selected your preferred size, click on 'OK'

    7. Click on 'File' once more. Scroll down and hover over Save As to save your reduced image. Click on the format you wish to save your image. I save my images as JPEG files.

    8. This page will then appear where you can rename your image.

    9. Once renamed, the image will appear in your folder where the original was taken from, unless you have decided to save it elsewhere. The reduced image is highlighted in the pic below (left of the original).

The image size has been changed from 1.52mb down to 1.36mb. This is only a minimal change, but it was done for the purpose of this thread.

    The original 1.52mb pic...

    The reduce 1.36mb pic...

As can be seen, there is no reduction in the size of the photo, just the 'mb' capacity.

    Cheers, Gary.

I use Photoshop for any large photo's as there is a 'Save to Web' that allows you to choose the size it can be saved too. I use it for large astro photo's but also some Sheringbourne photo's. Reduced from 3.3mb to 900Kb, very handy!!

    Thanks Keith, Gary & Ron,

I am not familiar with the Macs Keith so I can`t give any intelligent feedback there but logic says there must be a way around it. Toto may have a clue as he is a Mac user.???

Gary well done adding an in depth, comprehensive alternative method there. As you can see folks there is more than one way to go about the process. Best thing is to choose and stick with whatever works best for you.

Yes Ron....Photoshop is the way to go. I have heard many good things about it.
