    G`day folks,

Welcome to Episode 7 of Gormo`s Shed.

This week we present some short footage from 11 years past. My wife and I took a holiday to England in 2005 to see relatives and also to do some touring.
Oxfordshire presented us with two great railway venues and they were not very far apart. We based ourselves overnight in Long Wittenham, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, which happens to be where the Pendon Museum is located, and within an easy drive was Didcot Railway Centre, home of the Great Western Society.
Pendon especially for me, was a must see at some stage of my life, because I class it as model railway heaven. So much so ,that prior to the visit to the museum, I guess I was in awe of the guys who build the models and the trains for the railway there. Their skills were, and still are ,so many levels above mine that it doesn`t matter......I`ll never get to their level of expertise.
Fortunately, I was present at a running session within the museum where I witnessed a Eureka moment.
One of their superb all hand built trains was just approaching the viaduct, when it stalled, wouldn`t go.!!!
The hand of God ( the operator ) reached in to give it a push and away she went. I made no comment at the time, but silently within I was screaming out " Thank you God for showing me that they are not perfect"....Amen. I went away from there a happy man, not only because I had seen modelling genius, but also because I was shown that these people make mistakes just like the rest of us......a confidence booster.!!!
Didcot runs trains at 12" to the foot scale and it was quite a pleasant day there wandering about watching steam going back and forward, taking notes on track details and buildings etc. etc....
On the day they were running a little saddle tank and a Prairie......all good for me....I loved it.!!!

So check out the video below and also I will put in some links for Didcot and Pendon websites.....definitely worth a look.!!!

    Good stuff Ron,
I`m sure you must have enjoyed it as I did. I don`t remember checking out the control panels but I was probably focusing on the scenery.....who knows.???.. I reckon you need more than one visit to really take it all in.
Gary...mate....you`ll get there one day......we never thought we`d get there but you never know what life is going to toss at you.....things can change quickly sometimes.
    Cheers
    Gormo

I reckon the next video (now that you've gone professional) is a how to on your lever frame and linkages. You have existing footage.

    cheers

    Hi Gormo

Just give Toto a hammer and we'll record the sound from that - the damage is similar so the sound shouldn't be too dissimilar. :avatar:
