Time for an update after having four well deserved months off...

A quickie, to showcase the latest additions to the motive power, rolling stock and road vehicle departments, some of which were acquired during the recent Model Rail Scotland 2017 event.

The Minitrains Bagnall 'Wingtank' 0-4-0 in black livery is the first ever RTR model to appear on the layout; some of the engines you have seen so far were a mix of 3D printed and kit built, but Model Rail Scotland was a good excuse to treat myself to one of these fancy looking engines.

And almost to match, a trio of the recently released Peco 'FR style' slate wagons were also purchased. Now the layout can really start to take on the fictitious Welsh location it is supposed to depict (and on that note, "Hapus Dydd Gŵyl Dewi!").

An Oxford Diecast 1950's Massey Ferguson tractor was also picked up during the show. While there may not be much room for a farm on Fablewood, a little artistic licence never hurt anyone. The preserved railway technically doesn't carry freight big time anymore, but perhaps a local farmer asked for his new tractor to be delivered by rail? Or maybe the tractor is awaiting loading for onward transfer somewhere? Who knows?

Finally for now, another Chris Ward 3D 'Fairlie' has turned up for the first time. I've had this one for over a year now, but did not get round to doing her up in condition for operating on the layout. She is decked out in scarlet red with cream lining, and is going for a 'James Spooner' style look without the cab roof on. There are still a few things to be done before I can say she is complete (adding handrails and more painting namely), but she already looks good.

And how can we not mention this, and not have her paired up with the Peco slate wagons?

Fablewood has it's first exhibition outing in April 2017, when she is booked to appear at a show hosted by the Southport Model Railway Club. More details to follow, as and when confirmed.

    Till next time folks!

Great news that the exhibition scene has kicked off for 2017. Always good to treat yourself to a new loco or two, or even some wagons. Very nice purchases indeed.

As for the Massey Ferguson, it's amazing how a lick of paint can make these machines look like the work horse they were intended for... ;);)

    Cheers, Gary.

As briefly mentioned, Fablewood's first (and so far only) exhibition outing for the year, will take place at the Southport Model Railway Society's one-day exhibition on Saturday 29th April.

The venue is All Saints Parish Hall, situated on Park Road in Southport (Postcode: PR9 9JB). The show is open from 10:00, till 16:30, and 12 layouts are expected to be in attendance (no traders, due to the small size of the venue).

Alternatively, WCML down to Wigan North Western, walk to Walgate (few yards away) and hop on a train to Southport. Easy!

    *STOP PRESS, 22/03/2017*

Fablewood's exhibition year is kicking off earlier than expected, ahead of the already planned appearance at Southport on 29/04/2017.

On Saturday 1st April, Fablewood will be making an appearance at the 009 Society's AGM and one-day show in Rainford (just North of my home town of St Helens). This last-minute slot comes after receiving news this evening, of space being made available.

Photos and report to follow soon afterwards.
