Fablewood (Coed Y Chwedlau)

Fablewood's 2017 exhibition tour got going earlier than scheduled on Saturday 1st April 2017, when it made a last-minute planned appearance at the 009 Society's 2017 AGM and Narrow Gauge Model Railway show at Rainford.

The layout performed well (apart from slight issues with dirt in the pointwork affecting power, but rubbing the errant spots soon put that right), and was met with visitors and positive comments.

Here are a few snaps taken of the layout in action on the day.

























Fablewood's next outing will be in three weeks time, when it is booked to appear at the Southport show on Saturday 29th April 2017.

A minor progress update...

On the back end of April, Fablewood had a one-day outing the Southport Model Railway Show, hosted by the Southport MRS. Owing to the small venue (All Saints Parish Hall), there were only layouts and a club shop in attendance, but visitor figures were quite good. We'll take a look at that shortly, but first...

During preparation, it was decided to add some detail to the telephone box, in the car park. Until how, it had been empty with nobody inside it. Then, while continuing to populate the station, one of Bachmann's upstanding passengers seemed ideally suited to be put inside the box.

The box was pulled up, and replacement tiles laid and glued down. The figure was glued in position, the box reinstated, and viola! Another attention to detail job in the can!














Clear perspex has been bolted to the front of the layout, to stop little fingers touching the delicate scenery at exhibitions. The perspex, however, can be removed at home, for photography purposes.

Not to worry; Fablewood is still alive and well. However, there is no significant progress to report at this moment in time. Any new updates will be posted, as and when they come about. Meantime, thank you for your ever-appreciated patience and viewing.
