Well, before I show off a track plan, I have decided to have a go at the transition period. I'm aiming at using only two points and no, it ain't an Inglenook... I leave you guys guessing for the time being ! :scratchchin:

What I will say is that I have ordered two points from Hattons as well as something large, green with a Bo-Bo wheel configuration. Yes, it's a diesel...

This should do just nicely as these were around during the transition period, 1959 !

    Cheers, Gary.

    Nice Parcels unit Gary
Guessing an urban station or Yard, with Royal Mail loading bay platform
Your going to keep us guessing for a while.
You posted some great plans for members to be inspired by I'm sure you have been creative with your 2 points All 3ways:avatar:

Looking forward to seeing your ideas.
I'm going to try a OO plank or may be a O Plank or both :giggle:

    Hi Gary,

The parcels van is bomb proof. I have one as well that I bought from Hattons some time ago. ........ Don't drop it on your foot ...... You'll be in crutches for weeks :avatar: that's Heljan for you.

Looking forward to seeing your track plan, sounds like it's been well thought out.

    Cheers

    Toto

Well, I have measured my baseboard, which is a tad over size on the width, but that can be remedied. Printed out some Peco track templates and I now know all will fit in place. I really need to hit Scalescenes to see which buildings will suit the plank ! I also need to decide what type of retaining wall I will use, type of bridge and whether the scene will have a coal drop, a mill or a mail/parcels depot ?? :scratchchin:

Lots of thinking, so little time.

    Cheers, Gary.

Finally my two points arrived in a largish box with the Heljin Class 128 Parcel Van. As I don't have to work tomorrow, I think I'll visit the hardware for some pine to frame the baseboard, then off to buy a few lengths of code 75 flex track.
Maybe, just maybe I'll post up my track plan, then again, I could keep you guys guessing... :scratchchin:

A pic of the Parcel Van.

Nice looking parcel 128 Gary, typical turned up day after we talked about slow post.
It was just Aus post holding it up probaly evaluating it to see if they could deliver parcels with it.:avatar:

Withholding the plan Gary that's not very sporting, even I made an effort with getting Anyrail to work for me and got my plan up almost ended in tears for the PC but finally got there. In the end it took me an hour to get it to work and get the plan I have watched Leadie69 knock one up in less than 5minuts with scenic's etc took me longer than that to get the layout base to correct size:facepalm:

Ok then, this is the plan that I didn't submit in the group of track plans earlier...

Simple plank with just two points. Most movements are via the sector plate. This may become a two road sector plate once I start building the plank. Both steam and diesel will be present. The grey area with brown edges through the middle is a road bridge/scenic break for the fiddle yard. The blue line is the back scene/scenic break. The industry on the top right is a parcels depot, hence the Class 128. The industry at the bottom left could be a former forging factory, possibly manufacturing hammers of all shapes and sizes. The goat, well that will be there. It's amazing what you can find on the web when researching !! The fox, well can't give that away just yet.
The populated wasp nest, well, that's in the name... :scratchchin:

    Cheers, Gary.

Nice plan Gary you have also squeezed the maximum out of the plank also very clever to make the majority of the structures semi low relief style will reduce the build time considerably.
You will be able to get plenty of detail in with loading Scenes general clutter and urban decay.

Just purchased John's (Scalescenes) kit, R005 Large Station Building for some serious kit bashing...

    http://scalescenes.com/product/r005-large-station-building/

I'll post updates of the kit bash as I go along with the build.

Now I need to get a track template down to see if I can fit Scalescenes kit T022c Corner Shops and T010 Low Relief Flats on the board... :scratchchin:

    Cheers, Gary.

Gary you have plenty of room above the sector plate for the town scene
Also thinking you could get an island platform in that gap between the front two tracks with a over canopy at the end sort of Half relief to the front of the layout you could get a good lot of detail in a small sub scene in that area.:scratchchin:

    Well,

Gary has broken cover now. Very interesting. Didn't think that would happen so soon. :scratchchin:

He's up to something ........ There has to be a catch. I recommend that the competition don't drop their guards here, ....... Definitely something fishy going on.

Cheers ...... A very cautious toto

Just to make sure all fits within the limits... I think some track tweaking will be required.

Points will be controlled using the same method I used on Industry Lane, although the switches will be at the front, rather than at the back of the layout. The two road sector plate should work out ok. The track the parcel van is sitting on will access the rear and the middle lines, whereas the other line (in front of the parcel van) will access the middle and foreground line, the one with the point above the Jinty.

I need to organise myself a PCP panel for the NCE and a decoder for the Jinty. I'm sure I have a 21 pin decoder for the parcel van, as I have one left over from when I put sound into my Class 22. Then again, sound in the parcel van and Jinty seems like an idea... maybe... ;)

    Cheers, Gary.

Only question I have, if the points are operated from the front, and the sector plate is on the rear (2 road with 3 exists each), you are going to need two operators minimum to operate, and alignment is going to be critical - of course you could use a stepper motor for the sector plate control :avatar: (the dark side will get him eventually).
