Another tank loco to add to the fleet from the ACE range.

Again, these products are very competitively priced. Let's see how they build.

The loco in the picture looks really good - looking forward to your blow by blow build account of the valve gear - I'm guessing with your avoidance of double braked wagon kits this may have more blows than anticipated :avatar:

and ...... here are the photos of the kit ......

as it comes in a sturdy box ........

Pre-rolled boiler, bushes and cast parts, rod etc.

the start of the brass etches ...... which are quite thin I must admit .....

    and the rest ......

and the nickel silver chassis parts .....

and it comes with the usual destructions, parts list etc.

tidy and clean enough frets but you can tell the difference between these and some of the more expensive MOK, gladiator and Dave Andrews kits ..... but there again ...... so could my wallet, so you get what you pay for. especially at about 1/3rd of the price. you must expect compromises somewhere. As long as it does build into the intended kit, even with some twists and turns along the way. they look good enough to me.

    cheers

Would be interested to know how you got on with this..

I built one, the chassis is poor, the slide bars just don't work as a fold up etch, for a whitemetal crosshead, the method for the trailing truck leaves quite a bit to be desired too.

I've heard a few things about this product range particularly with the K4, weak frames, bits that just don't fit properly and parts that are the wrong ones. We keep seeing them come up on ebay... and they keep selling there too.
