    Thanks for the welcome.

    Retired railwayman (Ex LUL)

Intention is to build a shunting plank, no set time scale at the moment.

Also learning to play guitar - blues mainly.

Great stuff Anthony. there are a few shunting planks going on at the moment. very popular. any particular era or scale ?
learning the guitar as well. busy man. one or two guitar players on here as well. Gormo has a couple of Seagulls. I have a Faith. nice instrument but I cant play it yet. I started learning myself but other things eat up my time at the moment. I will get there however as its too nice an instrument to leave gathering dust.
thanks for coming back and I look forward to hearing more about your plans. Where about in the world do you come from ?
    cheers

I'm working on a plank called Hinchcliffe and a blues fan as well. Just got the new Joe Bonamassa CD, great blues guitarist well worth a listen.

Hi Anthony and welcome from sunny Spain I started to build a plank but it's become a 'plonk'... it's correct what Tany says there are a few sane people here but you can spot em from a mile away. Enjoy the ride.

Track plan? Haven't got that far yet!!:), Era, well, I grew up in North West London and used to travel to school by train from Willesden Junction station in the 70's so grimy BR is my idea of a "railway". Class 08's and 37's trundling about on weed covered tracks.

Guitars, I mainly play an American Special HSS strat, but I also have an Ibanez 370, a Fender Electro/Accoustic and a LAG Tramontaine.
Joe Bonamassa is good, I have the album he did with Beth Hart. I like all sorts of blues, but at the moment I mainly listen to Robert Johnson and Albert King. We are off to Memphis in October for a tour of the Blues trail, should be fun.

I'm presently living in East Anglia, the school I attended had a place here where we went for field studies and I loved the open spaces, a great contrast to North West London!
We are thinking of de-camping for Spain, but are waiting the results of the referendum to see how it affects ex-pats.

Thanks again for the warm welcome.

An impressive line up of guitars..... maybe get a job on the cabaret circuit over in Spain ....... :avatar:

ohhhhhhhhhhhh spanish eyes ...... maybe not.
Do you have any track planning software ? ..... I use Anyrail and find it quite good. You can download a trial version which would let you see if you like it or not. Always worth a try.
    cheers

Hi Anthony we moved to Spain (Nerja) last August no problems and the vino tinto is inexpensive (cheap plonk). If the UK does a Brexit' then we'll just make do, here's an idea for a railway room.

    Hi Matt,

I have been an armchair modeller for some years now, first work got in the way, then lack of space, then I finally put a baseboard together, and built an inglenook layout. I was pleased with it too and planned more layouts but finances dictated that I sell my layout and stock in order to buy guitars and amps. I did keep some hornby track and a few loco's though and have never lost my interest in railways.

I was planning a plank as I mentioned previously but I found an Inglenook layout on line last night that uses hornby track and I plan on adapting that to my own interests just to get something up and running.

Hours of fun can be had with an inglenook:thumbs:
It's easy for me to spend a hour on "Leadie69's" version of an inglenook.
Please keep us all up to date with your progress.
Start with the boards and work from there did I say we like photos. no we love photos and ask any Questions you like there's sure yo be someone that knows the answer,:scratchchin:

Hi Anthony it's brightened up since the last image only problem is the heat affects the points so need to keep the 'plonk' in the shade.
