Given the birth of Highlander Models I think its only right that my own company supports the forum. However, as its still to rise from its knees, I thought I'd start a thread on the progress of where my latest venture is in the grand scheme of things.

Highlander Models ..... born , officially on Monday 11th February 2019. The company has officially been applied for and accepted by Companies House. The current situation is that I await confirmation of VAT registration and await confirmation of a business account from which to trade.

A website is under construction as we speak in order to inform folks of where we are and what we offer. Products are currently under review and re-design from a former range of kits previously produced and marketed by Steve Beattie.

The first two kits, a class 26 and 27 are at an advanced stage and are forecast for completion over the next two months. These will not be made available to the general public until the third quarter of 2019. ( estimated ) when a range of at least five models will be released collectively. They will be classes 24, 25, 26, 27 and a Class 37.

It is hoped that further existing classes from the range will possibly be available for release depending on the resource available to review and where required upgrade the kits in 2019 also.

I'll update this thread as and when things start moving.

    Cheers

    Toto

I'm sure you'll make a go of it even if it kills me :avatar:

A range of kits with great potential, and I'm sure you'll broaden the range as you get your feet under the table.

    All the best

Its exciting times ahead for O gauge diesel kits. I've always considered the range to make more than just representational models because of their ability to capture authenticity to the real thing, something which the crispness of the etches do nicely. True there are aspects of the build which can be simplified and certainly "kit builder friendly" elements can be incorporated as part of a general retool but on the whole they make into great models which will look right. So I wish Toto all the very best with the launch of his new company Highlander Models Ltd which will be taking these kits to the next level in modelling Gauge O. :tophat:

Thank you all chaps for having the faith in me. It'll take time but hopefully with a bit focus on each model in turn and some concentrated effort / push, we'll see the first batch available for launch by the end of the year.

I think it could well be the launch pad for a few other ventures by others which can only be a good thing. Exciting times ahead.

    Cheers

Just a few words on the 26 and 27

Most of the changes to the etched brass frets have been identified and modifications made. About 90 % of the masters from resin casts have been produced with the intention of having the full complement of masters ready for dispatch to the casters for the creation of moulds to facilitate the production of the white metal elements of the build. So nearly therewith kits one and two. It leaves the rewriting of the instructions with further written and pictorial assistance to further aid the builder.

Release of these kits could still be a bit away yet as there is the functionalability of the business itself which still requires some elements to be addressed with regards to the website and relevant setting job of payment vehicles etc. .... We are making progress though so it's very encouraging.

Many thanks to all those interested.

    Cheers

Exciting times ahead - I shall be looking forward to not having to cast resin in between cooking and eating dinner, cleaning up castings and getting burnt by hot metal. That and slicing myself while seperating etch componants! Probably miss it in a way....

One to think of adding to the initial release is the Co Bo. There's a few people been asking about it and I need to produce a new chassis for someone who's got one of my very first ones.

No problem - I've already had a think about those and got a couple of suggestions. Should be fairly straightforward.
