Hi Ian The big buildings were impressive, but the smaller ones work very well as well. Possibility of two layouts in one, just swap out the building for a very different look. Paul

Hi again! Time for another update. I have been off this weekend so I've spent some time doing more work on the buildings. So far I have painted the warehouse and freight depot all over in a pale grey mortar colour and dry brushed on a suitable brick colour. I have some prismacolor pencils in other brick colours that I will use to vary the paint colour just a little more. The backscene has just been added on the pc to give an idea of how the buildings will look in relation to the overall scene. Ian
Those buildings look great. Looking forward to seeing pics of them once you have added the extra brick tones. Cheers, Gary.
Thanks Gary and Chris. I hope to do some more work on the buildings later today so I might have some more pics tonight. Ian
Hi again! What's this about...... 2 updates in one day?!!!! I managed to get some more done to the warehouse and freight depot tonight - they have now had extra colour applied using prismacolor pencils and the sills and lintels have been painted. Next, I need to decide on a colour for the window frames and doors. Once again the backscene has been added in the computer - I really should look into printing it out and installing it properly. Until next time, Ian
Coming along nicely The subtle colourings give a nice weathered brick look to the structures the roofs are starting to look good too. Maybe you could post up a list of the colours/products applied and the order of application to achieve the look Very effective Keep the momentum going and you will be ready to exhibit next year.

Hi Ian Sorry for the late posts - Toto had me working all weekend. The building colours look really good, as for those large doors, maybe a faded blue, but use some of the weathering effects like the hair spray to give a paint peel effect. Paul
Got to agree with the rest, great build and results. a muted blue would look the part on the doors and windows but nothing too vivid. great work. cheers Toto
paul_l wrote: Thanks Paul. Can you tell me more about the hairspray thing? ----------- As suggested by Chris, here is what I used to colour these 2 buildings: Painted all over in Tamiya Sky Grey as base coat/mortar. Dry brushed brick surfaces with a blend of terracotta, raw sienna, burnt sienna and black (just plain acrylics from the $2 shop). Bricks on Warehouse rubbed over with Light Sienna Prismacolor pencil (soft waxy artists pencil). Bricks on Freight Depot rubbed over with Terracotta Prismacolor Pencil. Sills and lintels on the warehouse painted with Tamiya Deck Tan (a wedge shaped brush works best for this). Sills on the Freight Depot painted with another coat of Sky Grey. I don't have an air brush so everything has to be done with normal paint brushes. I hope this info is useful. Ian
Toto wrote: Thanks Toto - I was originally thinking about an off-white on the warehouse and a dirty beige on the freight depot but I'll give the pale blue idea some consideration. Ian

Hi Ian Youtube has a great set of examples of hairspray weathering - try this one https://youtu.be/zwr61o2Hp_k Paul
