Hi all, I bought my Hornby Zero 1 DCC System way back in the late 70s. It worked well up until I dismantled that layout and has remained boxed up ever since. I am surprised how many of these systems and components are still being offered on eBay. But are they selling? This system is definitely NOT compatible with current DCC systems or decoders as it was one of the first commercial digital systems manufactured. So ... I am happy to pass my system on to a Platform 1 member for just the cost of the postage. This is a simple way to get into DCC at virtually no cost. There is the main controller, slave unit, 8 decoders (6 have never been opened) and all instructions. This system can run up to 16 locos (and you can still get extra decoders on eBay). It should all work, it actually has had very little use. Note also, it is a 240v version with an Australian power plug. I'm not expecting a stampede here ... BUT ... if more than one member wants it we may have to have a draw (or something) for a winner. I would also ask that if you want it, you will use it ... not go and sell it on eBay. Chris
Hi Bob, Well, it looks like no one else is interested. I have checked and the ZERO 1 can be shipped for around $25 AUD (14 pounds). If you're still interested let me know and we can work it out. I have a British bank account (Natwest) so paying me for the shipping would be easy. Interestingly, I actually bought this direct from the UK back in the 70s and had it shipped here. Cheers ... Chris
Hi Chris yes definitly interested. PM me and I will get the money to your account by direct transfer. Thanks Bob
Great stuff Chris , a very generous and spirited thing to do. A delight to have you on the forum with us. Toto
Thanks Toto, It made no sense to have it sitting in a box when someone could get some use and enjoyment from it. Chris
You are very welcome kind Sir. What will you be using in place of the Zero one ? We have a bit of a mixed bag between our members on here. I am one of many NCE users but we have Lenz, prodigy Zephrs and a few others. Toto
Hi Toto, I have purchased the Roco Z21 system. I like it because you can use any computer tablet or phone as a wireless controller. I believe Z21 is compatible with Lenz. I am not using it yet as my wife and I have a rural property which we intend to build on in the not too distant future. That is where I will be building my layout (no room for it at the moment). Chris
Hi Chris I too have a Black Z21 . Absolutly great it is compatable with so many different manufactuer units as it has alll the diffent inputs. The Zero 1 will be for a small outside layout I am planning. Be seeing you Bob
