Ralph dropped off a "New" secondhand locomotive for me to install sound into. While it is here I have done a quick fix on the buffers which in my opinion are far to small for a Locomotive that will primarily be used for shunting (there's photo's on the net of Hudswell's with far bigger buffer heads) Take some brass drawing pins and grind off he pin A blob of glue in the middle then carefully align straight on top of the plastic buffer head....simple !!! Once Ralph paints the model and weathers it they should look a treat.... Kim
Nice one, I have two of these and never really noticed the shortcomings with the buffer heads. Eyes wide shut I think. I also took one apart to chip it. Murder trying to get it back together again. Seems to be out of alignment. It's in the box in pieces at the moment. I dare say it'll be sorted though. Cheers Toto
What a great idea for large buffer heads. I have a supply of drawing pins in my office; I'll have to transfer some of them to the railway parts bins!
That's a great way to add large Buffers to the Hudwell Clark and they look just right, not sure what Ixion were thinking when they chose that size buffer head for the production model. Several of my NSW locos have tack heads as Buffers, as Scale Buffers are no good if you want to shunt with link couplings across reverse curves ie cross over points etc. Top Tip Kim
Toto wrote: Toto Just happen to have one on the bench thats about to have the suppressor's removed The tank is the only part you need to remove as seen here pop off the water filler and remove the screw that is under it then with a pair of bent nose tweezers with some tape or heat shrink over the ends ( to protect the paint work ) ease out the hand rails then the tank top will come off. Hope this helps Attached files
Thanks for that Chris. When I took mines apart, the handrails came right off and the front end came apart. I could maybe glue the front end back in place once I get the alignment right. Cheers Toto.
For future reference, you can get a speaker in just under the circuit board at the front, which saves having to take the loco fully apart to fit the speaker in the chassis enclosure.
Thank you Moderator, I mean my Mentor Kim, for yet again sorting another Loco,After seeing yours I just had to have it done http://www.clickRALPH
Did the dynamic duo C&A accompany you to South Geraldton yesterday.? You know the owners of WALKERS RAILWAY and the ALI BABA RAILWAY paying a visit to the HQ of the CHING CHING RAILWAY. Seems the Hattons remark has activated something again CHING CHING. regards KM1
