Thanks Chris and Toto, I have been accepted to the March, Forestville Exhibition (North Sh ore Railway Modellers Assoc.) and have also been asked to exhibit at the Liverpool Exhibition (Sydney Model Railway Exhibition) in October ! Better take the dust covers off Linden Ford for the March exhibition and pull my finger out on Industry Lane... Cheers, Gary.
Great stuff Gary. You'll need to get industry Lane ready to let Jack perfect his shunting schedules. ........ And then teach you how to do them.
Another creeping in Chris, Think I know what it is, ill go and 'Move her on' Thanks for the heads up She's been moved on and should trouble you no more on the Shore, Foreshore Cheers Matt
A little explanation Ed ? I've been slaving over a bad word filter for the Forum ( I get all the good jobs ! ) Started off with a 350 word list that had to be edited and then inserted and although I did take out or ' Define' quite a few words that were over censoring, the odd one or three slipped through and Chris just spotted one of them. I have just edited the filter to 'Define' a slang spelling of a certain kind of lady so that she is no longer being removed from the Shore, but isn't allowed out in public on her own hore Cheers Matt
ed wrote: Unfortunately Sydney only has a couple of exhibitions throughout the year. I have taken Linden Ford to the two major exhibitions in June and October last year and one in late 2014 (November, Linden Fords' first outing). This coming exhibition is pretty much the first one that kicks off the year and unless it gets invites to other exhibitions, well, I just don't know yet. Exhibition managers don't like to see the same layout at their exhibitions year in, year out, although every second year is ok... So, will Linden Ford be out again this year ? You're guess is as good as mine. Cheers, Gary.
I'd never really thought about that Even in the UK there are only so many exhibitions you can take a layout to (if you get an invite), so what happens to them then Mothballed for a few years to be brought out again, sold, broken up and bits salvaged for a new layout. Interesting. Wonder where some of the older exhibition layouts I'm seen on the web are now. Ed
I think quite often sold on Ed, to recoup some of the funds used ,to go towards another new layout maybe ? Cheers Matt
I thought the rule of thumb was a layout got about four seasons on the circuit before being retired. One or two is not really enough to justify the spend and effort. I'm sure both Linden Ford and Industry Lane will be in demand for a few seasons yet. Keep wowing them Gary. Cheers Toto
Hi Gary,You could always "pop down the road" to us here for the June show at Claremont.http://www.click
The Claremont show wouldn't happen to be on the June Long Weekend, would it Kim ?? If so, I would have to decline the invitation as I'll be at the Epping MRC Exhibition with Industry Lane... Cheers, Gary.
G`day Gary, Toto might lend you his private helicopter if you want to nick over to WA.??? http://www.click Gormo
Toto wrote: Gary You'll only pay for the transfer to Sydney then it's yours for the weekend just leave it fuelled up when your done, you did tell him how far it was across to WA Better ask if you can have the Jet instead.
Wow, I can't believe that the last time I did anything on Industry Lane was in late January..! I need to do something as the June date is nearing faster than ever. So, a fence was produced. No, not a manufactured kit, but a scratch built post and wire fence. I like the fence I made for Linden Ford, so this was copied, but using styrene for posts instead of wood (North Eastern Lumber) and a thinner gauge copper wire. Using 1.5mm x 2mm Evergreen Styrene strip for posts, this was cut to length, drilled, shaped, painted and strung with wire prior to placement on the layout. Below is the fence in place before the wire had been painted and both the posts and wire being weathered. Next is the fence completed, including the weathering of posts and wire, and also the addition of 'greenery' under the fence line. Why so green under the fence line ?? Well, that is because this is where the local birds do their finest 'spreading of seed', covered in a manure coating... A little more weed was added around the bridge area, as this is where any run-off would flow, keeping the ground reasonably moist for rampant weed growth. This pic was taken before I had vacuumed up the excess static grass along the road. Not only did below the fence line cop some weed, the wire gained some vines... More to come. I'll post up a tutorial on the making this fence shortly. It's good to get back into it again, as my creative juices where starting to dry up ! Cheers, Gary.
