This layout is looking awesome Gary. I'm really looking forward to seeing in 'the flesh' at Thornleigh. Ian
Thank you Ian and thank you Ian !! Jack is much better today. The new antibiotics have been working better than the last lot. He still has another prescription of antibiotics to go through and has to use his ventolin puffer 3 times a day. Tomorrow will be his first day back at school after having last week and the last 3 days off. Cheers, Gary.
Great news that Jack is getting well enough to go to school. The improvements to the layout made a real big difference to the bridge approach Makes a nice focus point at the end of the scenic section.
SMR CHRIS wrote: That is exactly what I was hoping for. It is good that Jack is well enough to be going back to school, although when I had Monday & Tuesday off, it afforded me some modelling time whilst looking after him ! Cheers, Gary.
Like the new editions Gary. Gives a big effect using little details. First class. Good to hear Jack is on the mend. Cheers Toto
Glad to hear Jack's getting better, and that your time off wasn't wasted As the photo shows, it stops the eyes wandering down the tunnel, nicely hidden and well executed. Paul
In just under 4 weeks Industry Lane will have its first outing at the Epping Model Railway Exhibition at the Brick Pit Stadium, Thornleigh : http://www.eppingmodelrailway.org.au/exhibition.html With the date looming faster than ever, I have been busy knocking up a stand, finishing the fiddle yard walls/screen, some more horticulture (grass/weeds/trees) and a few other little detail items. The light weight timber frame. Release the aluminium straps and the legs fold up along the main rail support. Close up of the fiddle yard with the appropriate signage. Industry Lane will be promoting Platform 1 MRC. Iknow it isn't the correct font, but beggars can't be choosers...! Some longer grass along the embankment and a few trees at the bridge end. Some touching up needs to take place along the front valance. Close up of my Buddleias, commonly known as butterfly bush. A view over the fence towards the factories. Cheers, Gary.
Really looks the part Gary. Is there going to be a backscene over the top of the bridge? Can't see the little beggers watching over the fence?
Looking good Gary, the days are passing very quickly now, just hope your list of things to do are reducing nicely..
Looks great Gary and good luck at the exhibition Ed PS. Glad Jack's feeling better, but I didn't catch the posts about him being ill or some other posts. Don't think my email alerts are working properly
First class Gary. Another stunner. I feel some well deserved awards coming on. Like the totems as well. Cheers Toto
For some reason I have missed about 10 days on Industry Lane so I didn,t know Jack was crook, I hope he is much better now! The layout looks great, a real treat to see in the whole, hope the exhibition go,s well and you get some more invites . Cheers, Pete.
Its been one of two stars of the show here in glenrothes. Industry lane and a certain radio control build. keep up the great work Kimbo and Gary. cheers toto
Thanks for the comments, always appreciated. Mick (60019 Bittern) had asked whether I was to do something with that rather blue end of the layout beyond the bridge. Just to remind you, it is quite bare... After trawling the web for hours looking for the right photograph of an industrial skyline that would match the layout, I finally found an image that would work. I copied/pasted/enlarge/printed the image before trimming it down to size and gluing it to the stark background. The industrial backscene image. My next quest was to marry it to the existing backscene on the back wall of the layout. Having two completely different sized backscenes does provide a challenge. Spending more hours looking for different images from terrace houses in perspective to a row of trees, I finally found an image that I could work with. Since I have two poplar trees on the front of the layout, I found an image of poplars with an almost vanishing focal point. Again I copied/pasted/enlarged/cut/trim and then fixed them to the backscene. To blend both scenes together as to not have such a square corner where the two images meet, some Woodland Scenics foliage was glued to the corner. Luckily for me, I had the right colour foliage in my box ! Some more foliage will be added once this is dry as I want to give it a much more 3D effect. From straight on, the new backscene works well, especially with the branch line joining the main line. More to come... Cheers, Gary.
Looks good Gary Nicely blended at the corner I did exactly the same thing on the narrow gauge using woodlands scenic's as well. Especially like that the scene has a branch off the main visible very well done finding a suitable image.
