Hi Gary, I've had models that have had the same problem and found it was just a case of turning the plug around and all was good, similar to n gauge stock and six pin decoders only working one way round. Try it before changing cv's as it should work on address 3 as Ed has said.

I've had a Bachmann loco with the wiring to the motor not connected via the push on conection's on the board, these are sound trax generic boards I think from memory

May be worth poping to top off for a quick look

    G`day Gary,

    Nice loco...

If you have a meter.....check the pin to wire connections in the plug and socket set up. A dry joint there will give you no joy.

Ok, I got the body off the model and checked all the connections to the push fit plugs. All is good, but the motor refuses to turn...

I tried different methods of checking power supply to the bogies by placing electrical tape over the rails and checking each bogie for electrical pick up. All good there. So, the only wires I haven't checked are the ones that are under the tape they go directly into the motor...

After removing the tape and having a close inspection, I found that the grey wire was not soldered to the motor terminal ! In the pic below, you can see that the terminal has not even seen solder... :whatever:
How this passed the Quality Control check, I don't know !

So, it's out with the iron and solder to repair this small error missed by the manufacturers quality control inspectors... :squint:

    Cheers, Gary.

I'd send it back with a very angry note and demand a replacement  [IMG]

(if you solder it, you may invalidate any warranty).

At least for you Gary it's an easy repair but for someone they doesn't have the ability it's a send back would end up costing more than the loco to do so

Gary remove those suppressor the yellow items and it should perform a little better as well.

And most manufacturers say all locos are tested before dispatch
I find this hard to believe as the number of issues like this are so common now. :faint:

When's the video going on line of it crackling along the yards:thumbs:

I have already screwed it back together, test run it and so forth. I guess tomorrows job will be to unscrew it and remove the supressors.... Getting too late for fiddling with it now. ;)

    Cheers, Gary.

Good news then Gary easy fix sorry we weren't quick enough with the advice on removing the suppressor's

You will usualy get better slow speed running and smother starting may not be that noticable on all models but but on some it makes a big difference.

Definitely not Gormo. About 19 months ago I purchased a shunter (S2) with sound from ebay and this loco suffered the same issues. I jumped back onto ebay and let the seller know that all the functions worked, but the loco just did not want to move. He asked if I had played with the CVs, to which I hadn't and he promptly accepted a refund and the return postage costs.

With this loco (RS3), the warranty only stands if you have purchased the locomotive in the US or Canada, well that's what the Bachmann paperwork states. I did not want to send it back (at my cost) so with the help of Chris, Kimbo and oothers, all is not lost and the loco runs sweet ! :D

    Cheers, Gary.
