Thanks Gormo. That rail colour is a mix of burnt sienna and burnt umber acrylic poster paints (Monte Marte). I didn't bother fully mixing it, I just threw it on ! Cheers, Gary.
You are quite welcome to do that Pete, after all, I have nicked plenty of your own techniques ! Cheers, Gary.
"I just threw it on"..............Well Gary....nobody throws it on like you throw it on...........very carefully applied and considered throwing on I would imagine..... Keep up the good work mate.... Gormo
Thanks Daniel. The layout has had moments of idleness, not much happening, then all of a sudden, I had a free weekend ! It's amazing what you can do in a few hours over a weekend !! Cheers, Gary.
Whilst I have a spare hour or so, I have been putting these switch stands together and a couple of cross bucks. These are all from the Osborn Model Kits range, which I find very good and easy to piece together. I also have some of their pallets lying around which I'll end up making to. The switch stands comprise themselves of 9 individual laser cut pieces.... Once together, they do look great... There cross bucks are a decent product too. They come with 5 x sets of 2, 3 & 4 Tracks signs, enough to make 10 pairs of cross bucks. I didn't realise, but on Thursday evening when putting the cross bucks together, I placed the Rail Road section of the cross up side down... Hence why one has been partly painted and one not ! Cheers, Gary.
Sunday morning switch stand production line is well under way... I will require another 6 after this lot for the rest of the layout. The 10 I am currently putting together will be enough for the extension only. I may even get a few pallets together after the next lot ! Cheers, Gary.
Thanks Gormo. Thanks Pete. The handles and target do turn, but do not operate the points. Cheers, Gary.
Over the last few afternoons I pulled out the air brush, paints and powders and gave a few wagons a light weathering... I still need to touch them up a bit as I'm not 100% happy with them... Cheers, Gray.
No your right Gary, they are terrible, send them over here ........please They look superb, Railbox wagon my favourite Kim
3500 miles from home, lucky the track gauge is the same.... A few interlopers rode the rails of Central Pennsylvania this afternoon... Cheers, Gary.
Late evening running... Ex Illinois Central GP10 #7962, now owned and operated by the JSRR, powers a short string of box cars through Jay Dubyew North Yard, whilst local switcher JSRR RS3 #1633 watches on.... Cheers, Gary.
