I'll start this thread just so as for the moment photos and my research drawings can be placed with a view to scratching an accurate model of this railway station in 7mm scale. Ultimately this will become a scenic diorama which will be a part of a series of scenes starting in 2020. So to kick things in here a a few old photos... sorry I have no idea who took them.

The original 1848 station had a stone facade with five ashlar stone archways constructed from Hollington sandstone which is a pinkish cream colour, to the right is the later addition of a parcels and booking office. The stone archway survived until being replaced with a cast iron glazed canopy in 1912 when the station took on other modifications and expansions.

These are the 1912 glass canopy entrance with handsome cab parking, the glass canopy survived until 1955 when it was removed presumably as part of the pre modernisation plan to run down rural facilities, the Leek to Stoke line closed the following year and through services along the Churnet from Macclesfield Hibel Road to Uttoxeter via Alton Towers in 1960... so we see a plan by the strategists emerging here. This is how the entrance to my model will look.

Here is a 1973 shot of the station after a failed preservation attempt and a direct result of a very blinkered Local Authority.

And this is what Leek station looks like nowadays with full wireless domestic control, underfloor heating, thermally insulated with A Rated triple glazing and a nice big double garage with views of the surrounding countryside to die for. Note the faux gas lamp courtesy of B&Q just to add a touch of class to the garden.

As upsetting as the next picture might be this one is probably for me the most interesting because it reveals masses of structural information, an upside from this fire damage caused by vandalism allowed me to calculate the roof span from known distances and thus create a good estimate the scale of the building footprint.

Thanks no not my house... it was photographed recently with owner consent so that the stone blocks could be measured allowing me to calculate the original station structure just from photographs. I was being a little tongue in cheek in my caption and description because the stones have not been relaid in with the same craftsmanship and skills as originally used, the result is a rather hoboldy hoy random arrangement which does not sit easily on the eye... but that's :avatar:just me.

The stone from the station was reused to build this house several miles away in Gratton a hamlet over looking Lask Edge. The house was a pet project undertaken by the home owner and someone else.

Other measurements should follow some time later today courtesy of my father who will be in the ticket office..

btw, I recently saw a colour photo sent of the demolition (can’t think where) but it clearly showed an upstairs?
I’m guessing from your photos it probably wasn’t as I can’t see a second story anywhere?

That was the warehouse office which was the two story stone building attached to the end of the goods warehouse nearest the milk and cattle dock. An exact same building still exists at Longport PCD, the downstairs was the staff room with toilets and goods clerk's office, upstairs was the wages room where Goods Foreman Harry Bonsall had a desk, next room was another office where Jack Lafford Assistant Area Manager Leek worked before that position was withdrawn and he was transferred to Cheadle. I believe Lafford retired somewhere around 1971.

The the platform awning boards are different, if you have measurement to work from I can try and cut them from card on the plotter cutter ('bout time I powered it up) or have a go at a 3D print

The width of the canopy awning boards was 6 inches in width... so counting them from pictures will give an accurate measurement. So there on the main Up Side building there are 26 boards from the face of the front wall to the forward length of the platform canopy making an overhang of 13'. There are 186 x 6 inch boards making the canopy length, this gives a length of 93'. I'd say the depth of each board is 3'. Are these measurements you mean Paul ?

I'm aware of the spacing issue of the letters.
