I think describing yourself as a butcher with the high standard of your models is a little unfair to yourself Rob! :avatar::avatar:

actually I didn’t know, but what you say is quite interesting as my first job (for only a few
Months - before i did 6 years in the model retail industry) was working as a cleaner in a bakery on a Saturday morning.. I swore I’d never have food again from the place as the floors were disgusting. At least I never saw any remains of animal droppings etc, but it was a cleaner place when I left. Till the next weekend. The bakers in the week must have been really slap dash at things like filling the cream buns and donuts etc with how much was on the floor.

oddly, one of my old school chums is now a health inspector for food premises - he has told me a few odd stories of some fast food retail premises nightmares when he was in Leics, but then he moved to the IOM and we kind of lost contact. Last I heard he was some place in Scotland.

Andy I guess you if you had a conversation with "Cake" Latham when he worked at Mr Kiplings factory on the A34 a similar story would have emerged. Then of course there is Kerrygold soft cheese triangles for Philadelphia not to mention the old Just Juice factory which had a Pot Noodle contract for a while but I digress.

Well what a cold, wet horrible Friday today has turned out being however when the postie called earlier with a surprise package the inclement weather faded into the distance as the package turned out to be some 7mm scale resin printed platform barrows. The barrows are North Eastern Railway by style and are designed and printed by Mossy to whom I am very greatful, so a big thank you Mossy for your kindness. Anyway there are enough parts to make six barrows and already three have been assembled, the wheels rotate and the handles raise, the front wheel turntable also rotates. Tomorrow I will spray prime the barrows and then colour paint them and take a few photos against the station backdrop but for now we shall just have to make do with our kitchem worktop as a backdrop.

Three NER barrows down with three more to go... I think these will fit in very nicely with the station once they are loaded with parcels and crates.

    Paul,

The sketch I drew these from is taken from the 1909 diagram book, what I didn't spot was a small note "To be fitted with chains", what the .... did they think needed chaining down on what is effectively a hand cart!

Not sure what you used to print the STL's but the file you sent had an error with a wheel (actually there were 5 wheels) but i deleted some and copied new ones...

They will look great ! I've just found a Gauge 1 LMS one... It has less detail and is very crude compared to what Mossy has made for you here.

I've also found this one on line, but its STL only, so It can be printed, but not painted as a 3d model with out lots and lots of splitting surfaces down, which I'm not doing !

Infact looking at the model, this appears to be a scan and not a drawn 3d model as Mossy and I would know them

The fitting of chains may refer to tethering multiple barrows up as a group on platforms which may not be level or it could mean that barrows could be coupled up in multiple for a continuous tow. The LMS barrows and Midland ones were fitted with cast iron wheel chocks on the rear wheels, these chocks were stowed out the way with chains into hooks underneath the barrow.

That looks like a version of the Midland barrows we had at Stoke and Longport PCD, there are differences tho. No front bulkhead or an open chain stancheon back and certainly not with solid wheels. Otherwise the handle, turntable and barrow sides are identical.

I’ve added some milk churns to the trolley.

A revisit to this long term project the other day saw me construct the ticket office partition wall from a drawing supplied by Andy Sollis, the partition is simply a panel and frame construction with two pay windows with a glazed upper section containing 36 panes of glass... I used transparent plasticard sheeting. The ticket office side of the partition will have a desk top and cuboard shelving added... here is the job so far.

Today I set about building up the ticket clerks desk and drilled out the holes in the pay windows. Still have draw fronts to add yet and skirting boards.
