Wow these sizes are bang on the nail... my cut outs measure 50.5mm width for the triple window, 36mm for the double and a slightly oversize average height of 46mm which is still good because once the base line is determined I have room for adjustment.

The second print had similar distortions on the outside of the tripple and double windows, and only on the front frames.

To try and overcome this I will try adding side supports

    giving a build plat of

    Another 6.5 hour print

And the next print is the standard door - no top light

    upload_2020-10-25_23-56-7.png

8 left and 8 right hand opening doors, all lined up like troops - an 8 hour print

@paul_l there is one more file to send which is a second 3 bay window, but it’s not a window... as such. Will make sense when you get the file tomorrow.

did I include the non window door? And have the back panels of the doors been tested yet? Or is that to do?
    Many thanks again.

That’s odd. Is it a stress related thing due to the thickness at that point?
See how they come out with the support.

Despite the barely noticeable distortions they are amazing prints. Well done all :tophat::tophat::tophat::tophat:

    Hi Andy

I only have doors with windows, no solid doors.

Even with the additional supports it still distorted a small amount, whereas printing flat on the build plate had no issues.

Mark this as a small work in progress - I have an idea  :whatever: :avatar:

Sent the other window file and also the solid door (it should have been on the door frame with no top window?

Meanwhile back at the ranch doing all the mundane stuff with Plasticard sheet, a scalpel, a rule and a daylight lamp... yes I've been burning more midnight oil :avatar: the second roof section was made and dry fitted, this roof fits over the 1912 remodeled art of the station and this is the view passengers would have seen when walking down the station concourse from Junction Road... or al least it will be once the ground heights are made and the Parcels Office Roof is on.

There will be a hip roof glass atrium spanning the gap between the 1885 Bookhill Hall and the partially original 1849 Gents and Ladies Room, this glazed roof will then join onto a flat platform roof canopy forming a total overhang of 28' 6" the canopy at each end will overhang by 15' which is the same size as the Down Platform waiting shelter which I modeled some weeks ago now. The new platform atrium space created is the site of the original but much altered 1849 station.

Now, the next unique part I’ve been tasked with creating by Yorkie is the bracket that supports the canopy beams. These appear to be cast metal, so you can guess what some parts will be shaped like etc, but other than being 3ft high and 4ft long, that’s about all we know and the rest is a guesstimate.

    A61AC680-1EED-4389-8989-A9F60E0457F6.jpeg
so here’s what we’re looking at on Leek Station. As far as we know, none survived after 50 years since demolition, so it really is a make it up as you go along part, and try to reproduce it the best you can within the printing tolerances of a 3D printer.
The inverted L shape was pretty quick to be done, harder was the initial curve section and then I came to the star of St David in the circle. That alone took me 90 minutes with 4 versions tried before I got it to look like this. 1318AA83-623F-4EF2-A25A-C9FE2C0E5534.jpeg

so we’re part way through. Some bits will still need sizes adjusting, some will need parts beefing up and tweaking. But I’ll keep a post of how we progress.

    Hi Andy

Build it like you have shown, at half thickness, mirror it and print the other half and glue together, it will even print on a FDM printer - thats how I made the walkway supports for the girder bridge on Another brigde.
For the resin print allow an extra 0.2 or 0.3mm on the thickness as the first few layers tend to compress.

I think all those cast brackets went in the melt. 13502535_1757709191177544_1186339110176561581_o.jpg

Is that a round base at the end ?

So as things progress I moved on. I did notice I’d inverted one part of the artwork so had to start the log bow curve again as the thin rib was the wrong side.

And so the joys of rest days, being able to jump on the computer for another 90mins.

I’ve more or less signed this off now as done, unless Yorkie wants some tweaks, although I’m limited to how much/close I can get due to print thicknesses, so as I’ve had no measurements and only one photo, I’m pretty pleased at the final result.

That looks perfect to me and a fine job well done, once these brackets are in place I can set to with the canopy and roof, although not until windows and doors are in because I'll still need to mark out the stone courses on the overlays.:tophat::tophat::tophat::tophat::tophat: But a beautiful job with cracking design work Andy.

This afternoon and evenings challenge was recreating some signage. These are double sided. 2CC09A67-099C-49DA-A0DC-FDEA0EDEE93D.jpeg
Now if you look back up the thread you will see these two signs in the photo of the canopy supports. The ladies one hangs down and the Gents one sticks out off the wall.. 8D47ECE9-EF89-4F37-866D-DFBFDA3F5D41.jpeg
But just to see, I like to put them in perspective to see how close or far out I am.

again, I’m happy here.. best stop at that Or I’ll end up recreating Leek Station in 3D :giggle:
