The backscene does not match the position of the level crossing which has to lead into the town. I'm not sure how to proceed, maybe some flat or 'thin' buildings to cover the tree's on the backscene?
What do you think, any idea's would be welcome!!?
PS: The white border will be removed soon!

    Hi Ron

How about buildings either side, cut out the trees and leave the sky, then insert a street scene backscene where the tress were

With the small depth at the back may be a bit of stone walling leading up to the crossing location in front of the back scene then a bit of Shrubbery and a tall-ish poplar tree or the like to frame the road and then do as Paul suggested cut the back scene back to the sky and add a suitably perspectived image of the road disappearing into the distance framed by the trees

Gormo did a couple of roads in to the distance with his town scene on GCJ have a look at the one in this post http://p1mrc.com/p1mrc/view_post.php?post_id=16650

Ok, you need a street view of Sheringbourne and a clear shot of your backscene. Using Photofiltre 7 (thanks Gormo ;)) a street scene similar to this could be modified to suit your needs...

    G`day Ron,

If you can get a scene something like Gary has posted up, you can cut around all the roof lines, chimneys etc. and then paste it over your back scene.

The road disappearing into the distance that Chris mentioned on my layout, was done in exactly the same way. It was pasted over the top of the existing back scene.

Going back to Gary`s pick, you could disguise the edges of it with ultra low relief buildings or even trees.

The best thing to do first is print it out. Cut it out. Then put it on temporarily with blue tack just to see how it looks. You may need to lighten or darken it. It may need to be resized smaller or larger.

When I did my road, it took about three goes to get it right but it worked in the end.

If you do go down this road of pasting over the top, when you cut out the pick, go over the cut edges with a marker pen approx. the same colour as the printed item next to the edge. This disguises the pasted item extremely well and helps to blend it to the back scene behind.

    Hope this helps.

PS....Gary has done a very good job on the perspective.....very important.

    Going back to Gary's pic

You could use the crafters decoupage tricks, and print an additional copy of the left hand shop, and cut out the Sandwich bar extension part and superimpose it over the original but with a 2 or 3mm gap giving a bit of relief / 3D effect to the front building

    Good one Ron

The preserved line clause in the railways articles, allows us modellers to run what we like and even more so when Rule #1 is applied.

My branch lines are preserved lines and as you may remember, all sorts of rolling stock runs up and down there.!!!

I do like that image you`ve got there..!!!!! Just thought I`d throw this image in to show what can be done.

The rolling hills on the left were stuck on the wall first. The castle was added later and stuck over the rolling hills. The steeple on the righ is totally separate and just stuck in place. The two little cottages on the left and the Estate Agent were printed out and stuck over the above. The street on the right of the low relief Metcalfe shops was downloaded from Google maps street view and adjusted to fit the site.

So you can adjust it , modify it as you go by building up layers. The missing road going off into the distance on the left where the hedge is, was added later.

Hope this helps a bit more.

    Right, another dilema!
Sorted out the image for the crossing BUT I'm not happy with the different clouds/blue sky on the photo and the backscene so I removed the backscene and carefully cut around the photo (a spare!) and tried it against the sky blue paint I have on the wall. Happy with that BUT I think I should dothe same with the backscene, what do you think??

    Original photo in place:

And cut around (although only Blue tacked to the wall!)

    Well, what to do??

Well sore fingers but I think it was worth it! Also added a 3D effect on the LH shop as Gormo suggested!
