    G`day Folks,

    Can anybody answer this question..?????

"Hi BrianI have just bought a Lima "Crab" the other day and the mushroom-shaped vent pipes on the tender are broken off (a common thing). I think I can fix them by using round head or pan head screws.
If you have one, as a favour, could you measure their height above the tender top and also the diameter of the vertical stem?"

    Thanks Folks

    Cheers

    Gormo

I haven't got a Lima Crab, but my Stanier Black 5 gives the following

Height to top of Mushroom - approx 12mm
    Mushroom Diameter 3.5 mm
    Mushroom thickness 0.9 mm
    Stalk 1.8 mm

    Hope that helps

    Paul

Paul's measurements are pretty spot on.

The mushroom top is basically the same diameter as the buffers on the Crab. Perhaps a piece of styrene can be glued to the vertical shaft or cut the shaft off completely and glue a 11mm piece of styrene to the buffer head, or solder some brass tube as the Lima buffers are metal...

The vertical shaft has pronounced flanges, two at the bottom and one directly under the mushroom top. At viewing distances (3 feet), you would not really see these... ;)

    Cheers, Gary.

    Got the electronic calipers out this morning. Dimensions as follows;

    Stalk 1.73mm dia
    Mushroom 3.74mm dia
Height - tender deck to underside of mushroom 9.82mm
Overall height tender deck to top of mushroom 12mm

There are also 2 flanges as Gary has identified.

Not sure if the Lima Crab is 100% as per prototype?
