Great set of photos and update Zane thanks looks like lots going on up there.

Gary the 86 class fate was sealed by a report into the efficiency etc that swapping Locos for the two short sections between the Mountains Sydney and the Hunter the report suggested the extra train crews extra Locos etc and it would be more efficient to not change Locos and run straight through with Diesels soon after the 86 class were relegated to passenger sevice with diesels taking the freight then with the end of loco hauled passenger services they became redundant most purchased I think by The then Silverton operator group initially I believe they were planning to convert the Chassis to Diesels but I think in the end it was deemed unviable, the chassis may have been not structurally suitable for the installation of the diesels power plants.:faint:

Well, time to wrap things up for another year:
On the whole, this year has been a red letter one for LSMR. We have operated our first services, switched from just restoring to becoming an operator (currently with assistance from the Lachlan Valley Railway), and are continuing to strive towards our major goal of having 2605 restored and operating on the branch line once more, with passengers. This last goal is not far off, but a LOT of paperwork has to be done first before we can allow passengers to travel.

One last trip for the year was run on December 3rd out to Tarana for a lovely Christmas dinner. The food was excellent, the live music got things moving and the train looked resplendent having had a wash and now finally having the finishing touch of home made destination boards. How do I know they are really home-made? Just ask my clothes....

So a big Merry Christmas to you all-and here's to 2017 and further progress!

    Nice photos Zane
Sounded like a great trip I saw the itinerary

I'm guessing you made the signs and you got a bit more paint on yourself than the sign

Thanks for posting over the year been great to see the progress out at the State mine

That's pretty much the size of it! But it was good fun, and they really finished the look of the set off well. There's already a Kandos sign prepped, which we may use once before the set goes North. But that's a story for another day.

Thanks Toto. More than happy to keep the photos flowing in next year-as long as I remember to take them between duties!

Yeah, the team really did a great job with the paint on the set. Was funny, as I was there one time when 661 was rubbed back metal and then the next time I went up-poof! She was painted!
