Hi everyone, For anyone who is interesred the Canberra Railway Museum is running a shuttle train from Gosford to Hawkesburry River and back everyhour or so (see the website) this weekend. http://canberrarailwaymuseum.org/gosfordshuttles Based on the posters they will be running a garret 6029 with 4 carriages. Just a short drive north up the freeway. Ill try and get some photos and video, however I will on daddy daycare duties with my daughter. Cameron
Booked a trip on this on the way home from Sydney on the train this afternoon saw the Loco at Hawkesbury River today. Will be on the sat 1:40 train.
Does anyone know when it is returning back south? Will it be possible to pull up a chair along the route and rail fan? Andrew
Don't know Could be Sunday night or Monday Near Hawkesbury river they had 2/3 IP or SA sleeping cars with 2 modern c class diesels. I would bet Monday after a nights rest but that depends on traffic. Cameron
Hi Everyone, Here are some youtube clips from today. Enjoy! Return from Hawksbury River Station You can see the sleep carriages and engines they used to come up from Canberra Toward the end of this video you can see the Garrett pulling the train on the curve Second Run of the Day Cameron
Hi Cameron The rain was a bit of a Looks like you and Ally enjoyed it anyway. We went on the 1:40 trip Then went to WoyWoy bay to watch the train go past photo opportunity spoiled by a big black cloud coming over just as the train came black loco and dark conditions no good. Train gone the Sun came out best it had been all day. I'll try uploading to Youtube a clip but it won't be up till later as our internet/speed is up the at the moment. Almost non existent. The sleeping/dining cars they have down at Hawkesbury are from the Southern Aurora set owned by the ARHS Canberra.
You guys have probably guessed that the train is staying at Hawkesbury overnight. I was informed it will be heading back South on Sunday, possibly staying at Everleigh on Sunday night, possibly longer. Cheers, Gary.
Finally video is uploaded Link to YouTube clip https://youtu.be/56g0qWyeOuA More trips Sunday if you are near the coast. Poster below Attached files
Gary Possibly a sunday night return. It would be easier from a timetable perspective. It might depend upon the number of crews they have, fatigue wise. Cameron
