    Thanks Chris,

Hopefully some more shinys can be added.

An addendum to my post requesting a name change.

I forgot the word 'please'. Where are my manners? Maybe Lola swipped them

    And the road bridge

I would like the thank Gary for his ideas re: the building and the road bridge.

BTW foam core is awesome. Its like cutting butter with a hot knife. Oh yeah baby. Hopefully I will be saying that after cutting the windows out. Less wear and tear on my wrists.

I bought a very large sheet for about $15 AUD, I find it much easier to work with than card but more expensive. I have plenty more which I will use to make the retaining walls

    Cheers

Coming along a treat Cameron.

The large station building by Scalescenes is a great kit as it has a lot in it. It really lends itself to kit bashing or just making anything your mind thinks up from it.

Have you considered using foam core for the platform top ?? The beauty of it is that if a coach/loco/wagon tends to rub on the side of the platform edge, a little light sanding with a sanding block can fix that up ! Once happy with all sides/edges, then cover the surface with tarmacadam (bitumen) paper followed by the edging stones. ;);)

    Cheers, Gary.

I haven't. Although i am not completely happy with redo of the platforms. A do over is a possibility.

Its easier to manipulate. I will certainly look at using it for the main construction components of the scalescenes buildings

Good to see a good use of a holiday - unlike that drunkard of a leader of ours, swanning off when there's modelling to be done :whatever:

Good progress, wish I could say the same for my todo list.

Here is a progress shot from yesterday.

Nearly at the ballasting stage - just need to paint the baseboards/rails, glue down the scenery pieces, etc etc.

Liking the wall and the colouring looks just like the Dark bricks you see going into Central Station through from Redfern etc.:thumbs::thumbs:

I have a few BR Mk1's here that missed getting packed away if you would like to borrow a couple to fill out the roster for a while Mainline / Lima, in Blood N Custard, SR green and one Maroon, I think all the BR blue ended up packed away.

Progress as at the end of today.

I have painted the baseboards and track with gray acrylic paint, one coat, 2nd coat a lighter gray wash. I have pained the tracks with Humbrol #29.

Everything is now ready for ballast and roadbase. I am using Matt's Ballast.

    Will attempt this on Monday

Nice to see that you have left a blackish line down the middle of the sleepers where the grease and grim builds up.:thumbup:

    Hi All,

It is amazing what you can get done when one's wife and child are out for several hours.

    Ballasting, 95% complete.

Although, I sprayed a bit too much water and the retaining wall got hit. The print is fine but it started to bubble in places but it is manageable. It is fixable. On to buildings

Will have to leave for a day or two to completely dry before cleaning up. Points are clear and functioning.

    Cheers

Bummer about the water on the printed paper... :( I never use an atomiser (spray bottle) when ballasting. I go with the 50/50 mix (with a drop of detergent) in a old PVA bottle where I can control the flow to a small dribble. ;);)

    Cheers, Gary.

    Thanks Ron

Gary: thanks. Lessons learned for next time. Hey at least the print didnt run. Next time i will try a different technique for wetting the ballast prior to gluing. The syringe method worked well though.

    Onto structures next
