Hi Cameron I just remembered I said I would post a link to the track cleaning block that I use by Fleischmann available from all aboard models near Mittagong they provide great service with my dealings with them.
Having tried almost all the various cleaning rubbers and blocks available I find these ones to work the best

    http://www.allaboardexclusive.com.au/fleischmann-ff6595-track-cleanning-rubber.html

The new motor In the 38 performed well will need some decoder tuning due to very little back EMF compared to the old motor

    Tonights adventures in layout building

    1. Glued track into final position
    2. Detailed Lima 44 Class with Ian Lindsey's 44 Class pilot kit without destroying the model or gluing my fingers together.

    An enjoyable evening.

Sorry about the multiple picture posts but I can't use my gallery as it won't show me the browse button to insert photo. I only get the upload button from my computer gallery

    Hi Cameron

Which browser are you using - firefox seems to give the best results.

Enjoying the conversion - looking on with keen interest, as this may apply to horby ringfield motors.

    Thanks Paul,

I am using Safari. Doesn't work on iPhone, iPad, or any Mac.

Will look at ordering one of those motors in the next few weeks.

Chris - what was the performance like on the 38 compared to the old Lima motor - quiet, good at low speed etc

This relates I think to flash plug in module not i anything compatable I use a off site photo host and use the BCC link code pasted in to the post.

    Re the motor
The install was easy DC performance very good
Initial DCC performance not as good at slow speeds as DC seems to have minimal back EMF so will need some settings adjusting in the decoder the decoder was set up for an Athearn loco so completely different so next time I have it on a layout I will play around with the settings.

The best thing is my Old Lina 38 is now a runner again as I had basicly worn out the Lima motor over the last 30 years.

The smoothness of the motor whilst running is great and really quiet compared to the old Lima motor.
I got two of the new motors so will try in Another Lima when I decide which one to convert

Great progress with your 44 conversion Cameron
Track down and stuck in position
You'll have to think about a Fiddle yard for the trains to run to from the station yard now.

Progressing very nicely Cameron, its surprising and satisfying how much the extra details pull the model up from the standard.

    Good progress Cameron

Now that carriage looks familiar - Better keep it hidden from Evan, otherwise it will start and breakup - bit like the UK. :avatar:

I trust all four priorities were successful today ??

As Paul stated, progress is progress !

If you wish to take your Lima 44 a little further up on the detailing stakes, Flushglaze windows are available from here : http://www.arkits.com/catalogue/21 These will improve the look of the windows 100% and take that clunky look from the window frames.

    Cheers, Gary.

Nice work Cameron the panel looks great and the track work looks like you have got it all under control.
Nice TAM car I've got one of those it's a bit bigger than yours though :avatar:
Now, Cameron here's something to save up for or a Christmas/birthday Pressent:scratchchin: the 3 or 4 carriage Rcar set would make a nice set for your small station in deep Indian red to go with the 44 class

I dont know about no 1.

But the wiring and testing went well. I destroyed one switch during soldering. Put in a spare and all is good.

    No problems with frog polarity,

Just need to give the track a good clean.

Time to consider scenery amongst other things
