I have seen the pre-production sample of these coaches, and yes they do look good. Very crisp detailing ! Now Cameron, if you purchase the 6 car set in blue and cream livery, I would suggest a 35 Class in Royal blue to match. I'm sure you could pick one up for under $600.00 ! http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Austrains-NSWGR-HO-C35-Class-Caves-Express-Steam-Locomotive-PB-41-/182191844764 or one in green to match the five car Tuscan and Russet set : http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AUSTRAINS-NSWGR-3530-REBUILT-GREEN-/152146747440 or a brass model in black livery to match the Indian Red livery : http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Bergs-brass-NSWGR-35-class-HO-locomotive-/231989627255 Cheers, Gary.

Hi everyone progress is continuing...slowly I am working on a few buildings. I purchased the Scalescenes Industrial A warehouse, the medium station building, and download the low relief warehouse, and the platform kit. I am intending to combine the warehouses along one side as a postal/parcel depot. I knocked up a few drawings in Sketchup of what I have in mind while the glue and varnish dries on individual parts. Tomorrow could see a bit more action.
Progressing well Cameron, onto the buildings already. Nice sketch ups You may have found it already but there is a scaling guide for printing the scale scenes buildings in other scales than the OO of the download, HO = reduce to 87% of original OO HO scale (1:87 ) - reduce Scalescenes OO to 87% Link to scale scenes http://scalescenes.com/not-modelling-in-n-or-oo/
Hi Everyone, Some progress over the last week. I have completed most of the Station Kit by Scalescenes. Just need to do the platform surface and a few supports on the main concourse and the parcel depot. My kitbash of the warehouses continues. Just plotting my next move
Coming together nicely Cameron. Have you considered making the parcel depot longer by adding extra sections ? Now you know how easy these kits are to put together, they do lend themselves to some excellent kit bashing. Cheers, Gary.
Great progress Cameron You haven't got bogged down running trains straight into the structures Did your LED lights turn up yet ?
Thanks Gary and Chris LEDs havent arrived yet. Starting to get concerned but they were coming from overseas. Still considering what to do in that area leading up to the the headshunt (is that the right term? The place where I will park the spare loco). Any suggestions for other buildings i could add? The platform turned out well but was very fiddly, especially in comparison to the low relief building. Simple parts, but gluing and spraying took longer than expected. I am happy with the result. I will laminate 2x1mm sheets to get the right dimension for the platform. Do you any suppliers of 2mm greyboard in Aus? Its usually thicker in most places. Any thoughts on foamboard? I am storing up the cornflakes packets Cameron
When cutting Foam board keep your blade at a low angle and perpendicular. Daler mounting board works well but is much dearer than Greyboard. Paul
Paul, I had the same issues as your build. Sorry I didn't look closer until after the gluing. Had to do a bit of sanding to even things out height wise. I will use the same fix as you did. I thought I measured the greybeard in the shop, but will either stick with cornflakes packets or 1mm card laminated together. I will try the foam board and see how it goes anyway. Cameron
Hi Cameron As you build more of the card kits, you will start and get a feel for which bits will bite if the card thicknesses are incorrect, but as you and I (and many others as well) have found out, it can be overcome. As most cardboard boxes tend to be less than 1mm thick, I have started to use 160gsm paper which bulks up the thickness, and can produce a sharper corner. The build is looking good, and as Chris and Gary pointed out a wee bit o bashin can produce a custom building. Paul
Grey board is also known as 'boxboard' or straw board'. I purchased my sheets of 2mm thick boxboard from Carrero Art, which is now no longer.... But, you can purchase box board from here : http://www.artscene.com.au/shopping/boards/boxboards--strawboard-/boxboards--strawboard- 2mm thick boxboard is coded as CBB 1800 (1800 UMS), 3rd from the bottom in the list. Eckersley's at Erina have boxboard, but it is 1750 UMS (1050 gsm, not much different in thickness) and is a little more expensive than the Artscene (above link), but then again, you could pick this up and save on delivery. https://www.eckersleys.com.au/products/core-boxboard Cheers, Gary.
