London Underground Layout

To copy from the PDF you go to edit and then take a snapshot tool, then you can just paste it into an image editor. Or you can use the select tool to click and drag over the area you want an then copy and paste as normal. I am also planning on purchasing serif page plus which is what I used at school to open and edit the Scalescenes kits to move items around to suit what I need.

 

Hello Everyone, I have made some progress on some textures for the underground platform that will on the layout. I bought a new laptop in the January sales as well as serif page plus X9. This has allowed me to create the textures I need. I have created the platform walls for the underground platform and some advertising posters and safety signs. I have also made some new NTI displays with underground stations on them.


Most of the sign textures are from the official London Underground design standards documents. PagePlus allows you to import PDF's into the program meaning that I can grab the parts I need from the document.


The posters were all taken from google and given a border from another photo. The grey square is for when it is wrapped around the piece of card to cover up the edges.
The weather has cleared up lately so I plan on going out and spraying the ballast. Then I can get the platform and walls fixed down.

 

hello all, sorry for not updating this in a while progress has been really slow because I have no money to buy things, however I have done a few things lately, mainly on the laptop creating textures for the underground area. Here are some pictures to show the progress so far.


The platform wall has been fixed in place using some staples and a lot of glue, I am still undecided as to whether or not I put a platform roof/canopy on. Any comments on this would be appreciated.


The NTI and cameras have been put in place, in the last picture you can see a CCTV camera that I spent a lot of time on trying to add the wire to it!


While at model rail Scotland in February I bought some working LED street lights from Kytes Lights, they are great little lights and give off a fair amount of light, they are waiting to be wired up as I need to put the underground section in first to allow space under the board for the wires. I have also got some realistic trees to put in where the benches are.




I had initially planned to use straight upright walls for the underground platfrom but felt that it did not give it an underground look, Thankfully my mum works in retain and managed to get two large 100mm diameter postal tubes that I am going to use for the platform walls. I also have a smaller 50mm tube for the running tunnels. The textures were created in serif page plus and took around 2-3 hours to make as I could not decide what images to use. The mile end frieze and the roof panels are mounted onto another piece of the cut tube to raise it out 2mm like it is in real. This was a test piece and I have still to test it with the gloss sheet over the top.
Sorry for the small update but progress should pick up now, I am currently gluing the PECO inspection pits in place which look just like the drainage pits in the stations. As always any comments and suggestions are welcome.

Thank you for the kind comments, I think I am going to go with a flat roof canopy that some stations have, I am thinking on building one. Does anyone know any good places to get OO Scale Valancing for around the top of the canopy?
