ok, let battle commence...plastikard is from Southeastern Finecast, 7mm FBS701 plain bond brickwork x 10 sheets plus 2x FBS711 Lintels and arches (these as it turns out will not make the arches for this building...more on that later).
So first job, cover the four main parts of the building, which will be made into two separate parts for easy transporting.
Doorway will need some packing blocks to form returns for the brickwork as per building a card kit. So the following pictures show a few hours work this morning.








Once this was all glued down and dry......30 degree day here today !!!, so didn't have to wait long. I then drew lines on the brickwork to show where the detailing strips will go. These will represent brick columns and stone block detailing.
I need to sort out a secure fixing for joining the two parts together which will be easy to undo for transporting.....still working for a solution to this.
Side detailing will be brick clad when the two sides are joined together. The grey strips of plastic and the top strip will be painted to represent stonework detailing.




Main front part with all those loverly windows to do....leaving those for later (wines is chilling).
Loading Platform has brickwork glued in place and I have some 4mm scale plastikard slabs that look like a good representation for the surface.



Rear showing all the alterations from the original scaled up plans from "Scalescenes.com" warehouse kit. The reason for the alterations was to line up each loading door way with a box van. Then the doorway height was reduced to allow the canopy to be dropped down. The returns for the door ways are glued in just need to add brickwork to them

A solution to the brick arches for the windows, is a work in progress but I think it will work. more to come....
The main wall above is 700mm long x 350mm high and will take 4x box vans in front of it with 2 more going into the warehouse.

Platform sorted.
End of Platform wall fitted, this will possible not be scene at all from normal viewing distance.....


Aluminium angle glued and screwed in place, this forms a sturdy slot for the second part of the building to fit into, works very well and is easy to fit.



Brickwork finished on the first building, spayed with undercote to see how it will look




Lorry Loading bay to be fitted, this stiffens the model up, square's up the walls and a bonus, the plastic sign-age board gives a plank floor effect





When glued into position it gives a nice dark interior ready for some lighting effects and detailing with box's and staff



from the rear the agled section forms the roof to the loading bay and also helps to stiffen and square up the two walls. Ive used a bead of hot glue to secure all this together

These two box' will again blacken out the windows ready for lighting and again form a structural part of the building, squaring the walls and strengthening.

Back into its correct position to check it works Corner brick work still to be done


Main building needs all the window arches made, ive also added some round profile under the top section for some added interest...I think it works

Hi Ron, Ian & Chris, yes it needed to be large to hide the single track behind it which was in the original plan to be used as a cassette fiddle yard, but its more than likely that at the show this year i will just shuffle the stock around and use this hidden track to store a five/six wagon train. At home I think I will extend the line on to another small board to act as a fiddle yard, this way the layout can be pushed back against the wall.
Hi Matt, thanks for the idea, this would work a treat on the internal corners, but the two main building join on an external joint. But the Velcro idea is a winner. I've got some left over from doing the back scene cloth screen so I will be adding some to secure the push fit joint. So http://www.click for that suggestion.

Hi Gary, The South Eastern Finecast embossed sheets are all glued down with "Accent" (mitre 10) contact adhesive. Works well with the foam core board, wood etc.....but you do need to use just a small amount and give it time to almost dry otherwise strange things happen to the embossed brickwork
The windows are the biggest headache, I think to start with I will print the "scalescene" windows on to Transparency (OHP) film, and see how they look.

Still have the final 17 window arches to make, but needed a rest from them, so I decided to give the two models a spray with under-cote, only to find out it was gloss undercote that I bought today .....but it does show up all the errors that need correcting. So here are tonight's pictures, warts and all......



The pillar on the platform will need some attention.....looked perfect when I cut it.....

The cheap "incorrectly mixed" paint I picked up at Bunnings have come in useful again. Three small pots costing a total of $3. A lot cheaper than trying to use model paint which for a build this size would have used a few pots.
The letters for the sign are laser cut and then pre painted ready for gluing on. Warehouse doors are just plain plastikard scored into planking then glued on a small packing block to keep them off the walling. Canopy is a loose fit at the moment, not sure if its best to transport it separate...
So here is where I'm at today. Still to be toned down with weathering powders and then detailing inside the door ways. Off to the glaziers tomorrow (Ralphs) to print off some windows and do a trial fit.
