Another session at the bench yesterday saw the remaining brake van ready for paint. With the addition of the final details such as buffer stocks, sandpipes and guard irons added.

    Thanks Ron,

I managed to get it primed this morning before it chucked it down with hailstones and everything but the kitchen sink.

Is this the one I did the brake wheel for?

Hi Adny, no that was for my Slaters LNER brake van. Another one that will be getting finished in the near future. - I am on a bit of a mission to get part builds sorted.

The sun shone here in Wensleydale yesterday morning and this morning so I was able to get a blast of primer on the brake van.

I had run out of Clostermanns so I used Halfords that I had to hand. I am quite pleased with the finish

How models “pop” when primer is applied, very nice.

I agree it sort of brings things together. Next job is to paint the interior.

A couple of days ago I finished the painting of the brake van and then glazed it and refitted the buffers.

The result is quite unusual when compared with the normal SR brown or BR Grey liveries.
Spray painted with Anitas Acrylics Sunshine Yellow and Vallejo Model Color Black. The interior was done with Vallejo Game Bone White and Model Color Medium Sea Grey for the veranda floors

It will be on it's way to it's new home this afternoon.

Me neither, it was actually quite tricky to get decent photos of it without them being washed out or too dark.

Nice job Rob. Not one I’ve seen before….I'm sure they didn’t stay that bright for long.

As an addendum, almost as soon as I had passed on the brake van to its new owner, I found the wooden floor that I had made in 2020 but which had eluded me when I picked it up again.
