Sorry chaps. Been a little busy ....... Job hunting ......I'm now ... As of yesterday officially unemployed. Nothing to worry about though as I have a few irons in the fire. It should only be a short term thing. So my focus has been on getting my name back out on the market. I have an interview on Wednesday and there should be more coming through shortly. I also have an appointment with an accountant as I considering setting up my own Limited Company ....... To be decided depending on the nature of my next position. I'll be posting up a bit later BT may be a little absent from time to time over the next week. Plough on chaps Toto
Hi Toto After watching your thread and Paul's bridge I am thinking of converting my garden railway to "0 gauge". its 16 mm narrow gauge just now. So if I do it's all your fault. Good luck on the job front. be seeing you Bob
Whey heyyyyyyy Another in the bag. Go for it Bob. No worries on the job front. The market is reasonably buoyant at the moment. There are jobs ....... It's just a case of getting the right one. I'll be back to early rises before you know it. I'm due in Cyprus two weeks today and would like week off when I come back so really a July start would be ideal. Let's see if I can get it to work out that way. It could be later. Mind and post up any progress / plans etc. That's a few garden layouts on the go at the moment. Brill. Cheers Toto
It's that SMR Chris to blame - he started it sir I'm really enjoying O gauge, but still keep thinking in 4mm , especially when I look at the Jinty Kit, and see the wheels, the first thought is gracious those wheels look big - or words to that effect . Bob, pick the right filament and you can print most of the outdoor features. Paul
Mmmmm Getting thrown under the bus am I So Sorry—— Not —— but your both enjoying it more than the 4mm Paul has really found that the 3D printer is a prefect match with the needs of 7mm Toto Best of Luck with the Timing of the new Job. Just wait until you move up to the next scale 1/32 scale or bigger Bob just Skip the “O” go straight from the 16mm to full garden Gauge Just a tease you know you want too Should be giving the C38 a run Tomorrow but Shelley’s Day clicks over the big 60 so on Birthday duty
Hi Bob, Apologies for the late response. Paul and I went to Perth on the Sunday but could not do a layout as I did not get back from Cyprus until the early hours of Sunday morning. Dundee will be our first this year followed by Elgin. I'll need to get my finger out to have Luib Bridge half presentable as a work in progress for Elgin. Track down , wired and running so far and will have the main building structures built but maybe not painted / weathered. The traverses should be operational for then as well. I have had the last week since returning from my holidays but have been concentrating on job hunting. 1 telephone interview tomorrow afternoon for a job in Denmark and another next Tuesday for a role in Sellafield in Cumbria as well as a few other irons in the fire. I hope to be hitting the shed this weekend to tackle a bridge build prior to my Goods shed build. That will leave me with the carriage works building to get on with. The bridge and goods shed are timber kits and won't take too long but the carriage works will be a scratch build ( straight out of my head ). Hopefully some progress updates coming this weekend. Cheers Toto
Had a chat with his nibs. He may be down for an away day on Sunday in order to get the traverser hooked up to Luib bridge again. That gives me saturday to get the bridge kit on the go. Possibly even tomorrow night for a couple of hours after SWMBO gets in from work. I could even bring the kit into the kitchen during the day to make a start as I have had this idea passed by SWMBO. We'll see. cheers for now toto
Well, his nibs came down today as planned and we set about a few tasks to tie the traverser into Luib Bridge. As well as setting the newly installed track ends to align with the traverser tracks .......... we had to use Pauls Jigs to align the alignment pattern makers dowels ......... and also lift some elements of the main Luib Bridge track work and relay it to get the correct geometry with the traverser settings. I'll need to replace a couple of track feeds that needed to be cut in order to accommodate the necessary re-alignment of the track. the traverser now lines up fine and the track can begin to see some paint and ballast in the near future. I'm traveling down to Sellafield / Cumbria tomorrow for an interview so wont be back on the layout until Wednesday probably. So until then ......... toodle pip. toto
And for some reason I got a traverser in my car to bring home - there was some comment about getting the tracks to line up after he moved them I now realise when Toto says he's moved over to the darkside, he really meant he knows my number . So I now need to find some where to put the traverser and fine tune the settings, but it will give me chance to get familiar with the program again as I will need to adapt it for the two new traversers. I dunno, some folks got to Cyprus for their hols, I get to go to the shed - just don't tell the boss. A good days work and Toto can start ballasting, the bridge is an impressive beast of a structure, the bad news is Toto now needs a single track version (which they don't make yet), so he may just have to scratch build one . We did have a play (sorry validated everything was working) before starting work, and did find a small dead section that the diesels would pass over, now added to the todo list. By the end of the day, both ends of the layout had the alignment dowels bolt holes drilled. And the tracks at one base board aligned with the traverser, and a sun tan as well, next he'll be charging for the experience . Oh well, where to put the traverser mmmmm Paul
'Suntan' .. you only need a few bottles of Rioja and hey prestos you could be in tintoland!.. who needs Cyprus .. well done though on the progress chaps Ian vt
Just catching up as I've been away at a steam rally and only got back this morning. Some good progress on Luib. Elgin will soon be on you so keep up the excellent work. ( Paul, you may need to dig out the "ar£e kicking boot", he easily gets distracted!) Cheer's, Pete.
