On the back of a recent discussion on Paul L's 4F build there was a discussion about wheels and axles rusting. One way to reduce this is to blacken the wheels and or axles. There are two types of blackening: Hot blackening and cold blackening. I was going to do a bit of a tutorial about them but found this Youtube video that covers it all. The cheapest way by far is hot blackening and I use ordinary cooking oil for this these days (I used to use 3 in 1 oil but it really stunk the place out) which just smells as if you have just cooked something.

My only other comment would be that I use a cotton bud where this chap uses a big paint brush and to remember that this stuff is really toxic so wear gloves and do it somewhere with adequate ventilation. Make sure that you wash your hands before eating and drinking etc.

Great video Rob, thanks for posting, just have to wait for my chemicals to arrive, may well try the hot method for the screws and buffer heads.
