The main parts of the latest creation to roll off the printer - a D10 Double Bolster.
It's 185 mm long and used the whole of a Mono X build plate with major parts of the skate cropped off in Chitu.

This is the beast that made me rethink fitting floors. The two pockets on the centre line are 2 of 6 into which supplementary bolsters can be fitted as required.
I deliberately drew them with 1.5mm clearance from the chassis to allow the floor to sit on the chassis with no thought of how it was going to get there hence the need to print one end piece as a separate body so the floor can be slid in before fitting the loose end.

This thing doesn't even fit on the cure plate, it's had to be cured statically. Now can I sneak the new bigger wash and cure machine in past she who must be. Not a chance me thinks.

For wagons bodies/chassis I use a mixture of medium and light supports. Mediums on each corner. joins. end beams and where there are cut outs running up into the model then the rest is infilled with light support except if its a long straight run where its alternating mediums and lights but also a second row off set from the first - bit hard to explain. I would send you a chitu file but I can't attach anything to an email in here don't know why so screen shots will have to suffice.

This is the D1 body and detached end and is all mediums:



Floors printed vertical, I use all mediums first along the bottom edge, then 4 supports running vertical up each end last one being just a few mm's from the top, then on the under side, again vertically 4 supports slightly off set from each other repeated 4 times.

This is the floor of a K1 Cattle, the reverse side is ribbed horizontally. the bottom edge supports alternate between the floor and the ribs.

Missed a bit. I fill the 3 rectangles in the body I stuff with same components - just a way of saving on resin cos its a ready made skate waiting for bodies.
I cleared them out so the body supports were clearer.

Another of my wonderful traits is being chronologically challenged. I thought I would be in the Lake District today on a short break, however, early this morning I was told we weren't going till tomorrow. I have a number of test prints packed up ready to take with me for (perfect for rainy days) and having an extra day thought I would slip in another one so set to printing a V1-2 Brake van that's been sat about for yonks. Every things printed perfectly including a lovely delicate clerestory roof, but while removing the supports from the roof it slipped out of my hands and as I got up to pick it up stood on it. Yep its now in multiple pieces so I'm taking a roofless van and will have to reprint the roof when we get back. I'm going to add just plain clumsy to the list of Mossy traits.

Morning Rob,

As it turned out crushing the roof didn't matter too much after a good wash and cure there were 2-3 things I was happy with the print so it will need redoing and there isn't time today to get it done, we are leaving about mid day. Not sure when Doncaster is equally not sure when we are back this is a flexi-break cos we have unlimited access to the accommodation.

Will be away for Donnie. Yes we are staying in our climbing clubs hut. Not as sparse as not sounds, double glazing, fitted carpets, log burner, central heating system, two bathrooms, the only down side - bunk beds (it sleeps 13 when full). And all at the princely sum of £5 a night. All members have a key and unless it's booked out (which is very rare) have access at all times. Our other hut is a mile from Ribblehead Viaduct but that's not as well appointed though with views of all the three peaks it has its compensations.
